coolwebsearch= NASTY NASTY NASTY spyware here's how to kill it
I've been fighting this shit for a week, it hijacks your homepage redirects to some nasty crap the kind of stuff no sane person would want anywhere near them.
It reanimates itself in different forms and names, slows your computer way down, and can't be touched by Spysweeper, spybot sd, adaware, and when I tried to kill it with hijack this it reinstalled on the next boot.
This stuff is nasty, the only thing I've found to kill it is cwshredder. You can go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/ to get the shredder. It's free and the only thing that works, you may have to check for updates frequently.
Also webattack is now snapfiles so you can go to http://www.snapfiles.com for just about all of your computing needs.

You can go here too:

http://217.115.153.73/parasite/

Look for "Cool Web Search".

"CWShredder" is a good program, made specifically for this nasty script.

Hijackers attack your HOSTS file and sometimes your registry. They are not really 'spyware' or 'viruses' per say. Rather, they are little script tricks that change your settings. That is why antivirus programs and firewalls, as well as spyware detectors cannot detect them. They are not programs. Just sneaky modifications.

Norton detected a worm last week almost immediately, but was unable to remove it. I immediately cleaned out my temp files and it was gone.

2. Thank goodness for CWShredder.
I was recommended it on DU by somebody when I was going insane with the homepage switching and all that crap. I also upgraded my internet explorer and my AdAware and that helped me not get any more of the coolweb hijacks.

3. weird stuff is happening to me too
It only occurs when I google though. I click on a search result and it sends me to several other search sites instead of the site I want. Sometimes I have to cut and paste the url in order to get to the damn site.

Does this happen to anyone else? It's weird, I have no idea what to do.

5. A good way to get rid of it is to look in uninstall menu
Some hijackers can be uninstalled
