So are we living in a police state yet?
They are talking about banning Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake from the Grammys. Sacre bleu, everyone shows up practically naked to the Grammys! What is going on.

1. If they show up to the stage naked
and then are shot, then you know you are living in a police state.

3. of all the things that could make you realize this is a police state
the Justin/Janet thing did it for you eh?

58,260 drug law violators were in federal prisons on December 31, 1994, an 850% increase from 6,120 in 1980.

I guess Janet's boob really woke you up.

4. the trigger is different for everyone...

(to borrow from a great man, Martin Niemoller)

First they came for the pot smokers,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a pot smoker.
Then they came for our civil rights,
and I didn’t speak up,
because they didn't effect ones I care about.
Then they came for the Internet,
and I didn’t speak up,
because the sites I use were still available.
Then they came for me (a boobie enthusiast),
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

It is different for everyone. The problem is that most people don't notice until their comfort zone is effected. The problem with that is by the time the Average Joe's comfort level is effected, it is too late for everyone.

5. For me, it's guns.

As long as we can still be armed, it's not a complete police state.
For some folks, it's boobs, others, druggies in prison.
I will agree with you that we are hurrying head-long into a fuzz-state, and it's all "for our safety".....

6. safety is a myth...
They are selling a myth of safety. You can get killed walking across a street. There is no such thing as safe. All there is is a feeling of security. They are playing on people's insecurities to get what they want.

8. Hey, don't be mean about it.

I know that politically it's been happening, but when it crosses over to the entertainment industry, it starts stinking of Goebbels micro-management of all things propaganda not to mention movies, plays and other enterainments, like sports. Then we have truly become Nazified.

On edit: I meant this as a reply to #3.

9. no meanness intended...
Just pointing out that many people don't notice it until it disrupts something they care about. Most people don't care about politics or government. Most people couldn't name the first five amendments to the Bill of Rights. So how could they care that they are being eroded? Those type of people only care when they can't watch their favorite show or the movie they were waiting to see is banned or protested. Sadly, by that time it is too late.

Real life sometimes imitates the alternate worlds they visited.
