A nurse told me today
that I should watch Benny Hinn on Sunday Mornings because he can heal me. :P

My doctor was a bit upset when I mentioned this to her, but I got a kick out of it.

I imagine this kind of thing isn't so uncommon in other parts of the country that are more throughly infested with bible thumpers. But you don't expect this kind of thing in a Manhattan doctor's office.

I got my flu shot today! Yay! And I got my prescription for my electric scooter. My doctor agrees that a scooter is a better choice than a wheelchair for now.

But she's calling up the social worker again because the wheelchair might not be far away. Well, at least I have some support behind me.

So, how was your day? :)

1. truly, the physician who's office it is
has the responsibility of controlling the information that his/her staff disseminate to the patients.

So he had a "right" to be upset.

Yes it happens in the bible belt far too often, I see things that I just roll my eyes at. On the other hand, if you start where the patient is thinking wise (where i work it is with some quite old patients who are often very religious in an old fashioned way) then sometimes that isn't always a bad thing to have.

On the other hand, my physician, whom I think the world of, has turned his office into a fundie music and picture fest office. The staff on the other hand, are often assholes and the "Christian" aspect of the place makes no difference.

4. It's a damned shame when good doctors have assholes
on their staff. :(

I am glad your doctor is good. I'm sorry you have to deal with fundie stuff on a regular basis.

3. I had to read that twice - I thought you said Benny Hill
And I couldn't figure out what he had to do with bible thumpers!

Come to think of it, I think Benny Hill would probably be more healing at that.

She highly recommends Benny Hill over Benny Hinn.

8. She said "Benny Hill".
There's nothing that a Boots Randolph-scored chase scene can't cure.

10. The office is in China Town, and I'm the only native English speaking
person there. I am not sure the nurse would know who Benny Hill is. But next time she talks to me about Benny Hinn maybe I'll have to deliberately misunderstand her and start talking about Benny Hill.
:P

That kind of a mix-up, given our language barrier, will be quite hillarious!

I can't think of any laws that you'd be breaking.

17. Hi Sue!
I won't get onto that flamewar. :)

I get the flu vaccine every year, and the pneumonia vaccine every few years. Though I won't say I'm 100% in favor of all vaccines. Especially when they're mandatory.

I hope you're having a great weekend. :hi:

22. That's okay
Sounds like you have a common sense approach to things. Thats good.
I got me a nice needle free flu mist the other week. No shot vaccines ROCK.
I'm having an okay weekend sitting here watching some college football with a warm snuggly kitty sitting right next to me as I type this (in fact she accidently erased my original post to you...had to retype it):hi:

26. I love trying to post with lap-kitties!
Especially when they're trying to catch your fingers. The smaller of my two boys tries to do that. :P

Because of the painkillers I take, I don't even feel needles anymore. I have lost what little aversion to needles I used to have.

14. Dyslexia can be fun
I originally read that as a suggestion that you watch "Benny Hill" for healing.

That could work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib6k3M30lus

Congratulations on your new wheels!

Benny Hill wins the showdown, hands down. :P

Thank you! I don't have them quite yet, but I should have them this week if the Insurance company cooperates. :)

15. that sucks to deal with!
glad you got your script though...

My day was sore but ok, we took the kiddo to the Peabody museum @ Yale. That was fun but the drive & assorted jostling wore me out. So I just got up from a nap & I'm enjoying the empty house since Lynz took the kiddo with her to the folk concert.

:P
I'm having surgery on Tues. Turns out the ligament pulled a chip off the bone in my index finger. They're going in to stick that down & then I get 3 weeks in a cast. I also cracked my thumb, but that's just splinted... so I'm hanging in there...

Write some update posts afterward so we can all send you good vibes and hugs. I want to know how you're doing.

Are they confident that you'll have full mobility and use of your hand afterward? Is this likely to result in arthritis later on? :(
