1. I like wreath # 2 better because of the asymmetry.
Looks like it was fun.

3. I also like the asymmetry..it was more fun to make, too. the second one I
was just using up some old stuff I had in my junk box and added the ribbon which helped a lot.

Oh by the way, Thank You!

4. Cream Cheese Pound Cake Recipe:
CREAM CHEESE POUND CAKE

INGREDIENTS

* 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (butter and cream cheese should be softened to room temp)
* 1 1/2 cups butter
* 3 cups white sugar
* 6 eggs
* 3 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

*** FOR MARBLE CAKE, MELT ABOUT 1/2 CUP OF SEMISWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS AND LET THEM COOL DOWN.

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (160 degrees C) grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar gradually and beat until fluffy.
3. Add eggs two at a time, beating well with each addition. Add the flour all at once and mix in. Add vanilla.

****FOR MARBLE CAKE: TAKE OUT ABOUT A CUP OF THE BATTER AND COMBINE WITH THE COOLED MELTED CHOCOLATE. PUT ABOUT 2/3 OF THE REMAINING BATTER IN THE TUBE PAN, THEN DROP THE CHOCOLATE MIXTURE BY SPOONFULS ON TOP OF THE BATTER. SPREAD THE REMAINING WHITE BATTER ON TOP OF THE CHOCOLATE GLOBS AND THEN TAKE A SPREADER/SPATULA AND SWIRL IT AROUND IN THE CAKE PAN TO MARBLE THE TWO BATTERS TOGETHER. ****
4. Pour into a 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees F (160 degrees C) for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Check for doneness at 1 hour. A toothpick inserted into center of cake will come out clean.

10. UPDATE: results of the auction:
basket went for $15...my cost was maybe $5
wreaths went for $20 each, due to not being in the main traffic flow but I think I only had about $7 in each of them

Cakes went for $35 each. nom, nom, nom. I invested in pretty( but cheap) gold charger plates, with scalloped edges and a roll of this extra wide cellophane to wrap them like a gift basket and tied them up with a pretty gold mesh ribbon. They looked lovely. The cellophane looks clear on the roll but has an opally quality that is really neat.

I also had made a stop at Ross earlier in the afternoon and found a bunch of cool little holiday things for under $7 each which went really well at the silent auction...one thing I bought for $2.99 sold for $15. My work here is done!

At the live auction, I auctioned off to 8 persons, the opportunity to call me sometime this year and request a cake to be made and they get to choose what kind from a fairly substantial list of really tried and true good cakes. $35 each x 8 = $280 for the charity.

One of my friends while bidding was going on really needed to know if she could have it in December, like now. Which of course she can and she wanted the easiest one too. chocolate pound cake, on or before Dec 18 and we agreed so she stayed in the bidding.

This was once upon a time the only thing I could do to contribute to this fundraiser being very broke at the time. Now it is a tradition.

Today we will find out our total take, at the annual Good Neighbors Exchange of Goods and Services
