Macleans: Canadians hate Bush, eh!
MAYBE IT'S THAT SMUG LITTLE SMILE. His penchant for fantastically expensive military photo-ops. Or the swaggering, belt-hitching walk that cries out for a pair of swinging saloon doors. And though, God knows, we have too many of our own syntactically challenged politicians to be casting stones, shouldn't the leader of the free world know that "misunderestimate" isn't a word? Yes, we're cavilling, but clearly there is something about George W. Bush that gets under the skin of Canadians.

1. O Canada! There are times I wish...
you'd annexed Hawai'i before the Americans got to it (the idea was broached, at least semi-seriously, in the 1880s).

That way, you'd have one warm province (c'mon, B.C. doesn't really count) and we'd have a hockey team.

Besides, a U.S. state of 1.2 mln population is generally ignored, while as a Cdn province, we'd be roughly level with Manitoba.

3. David Frum is an idiot
The guy obviously has no one to talk to up here, or else he'd now the truth, I am pleasantly suprised on a daily basis with how many people up here can't stand Bush.

4. Last September, I spent three days in Montreal.

When the people I spoke with realized that I wasn't just another flag-waving jerk-off, they really opened up to me regarding their feelings about Bush. The consensus was that (big surprise) we Americans need to get Bush out of the White House before he and his cronies take the whole bloody planet down.

Those Montrealers implored me to get as many of my fellow Americans to the polls this November as I possibly could. "I don't care if you have to drag them to the polls or force them there at gunpoint," one of them said. "The Republicans in your country always lose when there's high voter turnout. So please, vote that bastard Bush out of office!"

I've no doubt that the vast majority of Canadians share the opinion of my new friends in Montreal. In fact, I'm guessing the entire world will be sitting on pins and needles this November 2nd. And god help us all if America's voters stay home in droves this time! :scared:

A Calgarian I know says that her right-wing brother and sister-in-law are coming home from Texas because Bush is creeping them out.

They like their friends and neighbours there but Dubya is just too much.

I'm getting extrememly tired of having this would-be Marshal Dillon in the Oval Office.

I'm glad you guys recognize this, also.
