A more risqué one would have required a kitteh of some sort.

You can post anything with an lolcat.

4. Actually some here professed that we probably don't know enough
about either of them to make that kind of assessment.

But I appreciate being called out for it... NOT

14. do me a favor
go to wikipedia and look up the listings for both of these women

Christina has a whole section on philanthropy: working for PETA, women's shelters, projects to fight domestic violence and AIDS, working for Amnesty International and project for humanitarian aid to Darfur.

There is no such section on Britney. Nothing.

If you don't like Wikipedia, I'm sure there's plenty of other sources to support a statement that these women have different sensibilities. Turn off Hard Copy and blow up your subscription to the Inquirer.

While there may be some similarities regarding their choice of undergarment (and let me tell you: that's a whole "damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't" thing for women) these are different women.

18. MissMillie, here is what I'm going to do:
With all due respect for you, I am going to reserve judgment. I'm sorry but I can't spend even one minute of my life pondering CA or BS or ANYONE in Hollyweird. I just don't care. I don't watch TV and I don't read tabloids.

That said, I enjoyed exchanging ideas about the topic yesterday, not about her specifically. Really, I care more about what DUers think than I do about that stuff.

So please be patient with me; I'm still malleable (I hope!) :scared:

just as soon as someone offered up something that might change your mind.

you had plenty of time to search out that picture of CA though.

hey... whatever works for you.

22. I'm being honest with you here
1. I don't believe anything written about "the stars". If that stuff about CA is true, that would be great, but I'm not naive to know that image consultants and "publicists" don't exist for nothing. Celebrities INVENTED them. As you say, we can't really ever know them, especially with all of our info coming from MSM.

b. It was by TOTAL COINCIDENCE that I came across that photo last night! I certainly wasn't looking for it! Yeah, it took some time to "fix it up" for DU's amusement, because I don't mind spending my time for that.

Really.

My OP was just a snarky drive-by. What it grew into was me trying to explain to you and others what I meant by it (after being asked). I value interaction with you and others here in DU, not reading about celebs. :puke:

It's like being a voyeur, and judging someone else's life somehow gives their own life meaning.

16. Cool.
I've developed a peeve here at DU, watching people pick at celebrities, especially dead celebrities, just because they can. A comment in passing doesn't bother me, but many people here really do obsess over celebrities.

If not, then why do it at DU?

JUST KIDDING!!! To answer, "no".

Why on DU: for fun! Personally, I think "tart" is a funny term; I always think of "watery tart" from Holy Grail.

YMMV :hi:

31. Look, I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, but there are some points I'd like to make.
1. "Hollyweird" is a term very often used by the right to describe Hollywood liberals, who in general have been extremely supportive of the progressive movement. It is not a term often used at DU.
2. Please Google the term "tart" as a noun used to describe women. In that context, the word is used interchangably with whore, slut, etc. Just because a tabloid or rightwinger uses the term "Pop Tart" does not necessarily mean you should expect progressive women to embrace such sexist language when it's used in a _progressive_ forum.
3. If you find fun in using sexist terms to describe women, particularly when posting in a progressive community, the term may say more about your mindset than it says about the women you're attempting to chracterize.

YMMV :hi:

40. On that I will agree with you.
I'm absolutely grossed out by the breathy, sultry, little-girlesque voice in which Britney Spears sings and which her recording techs mix to quasi-correct pitch. But mainly, it's the creepy, sexed-up, little-girlesque thing that bothers me.
