How NOT to run for office
Let's say you want to get elected to Congress. Do you

a.) Raise large amounts of money and go on television early

b.) Build a strong grassroots field organization that turns out the vote

c.) Stage an auto accident on the turnpike as a publicity stunt

If you said "C", you might want to reconsider:

Dover – Prosecutors believe former 1st District congressional candidate Gary Dodds' disappearance last year was a publicity stunt meant to inject new life into his flagging run, according to court documents made public yesterday.

To bolster his then-faltering campaign, Dodds took out two mortgages, in January and March of last year, worth a total of $90,000 on a home at 294 Lincoln Ave. in Portsmouth without his wife Cynthia's knowledge, the court documents say.

In two letters dated Feb. 9 and March 14, 2006, and sent to Dodds' then-campaign treasurer, Frank Meanor, the Federal Election Commission notified the Dodds campaign that proper filing procedures were not being followed, that there were problems with the campaign's financial filings and that an audit was possible.

In the midst of all of that, Dodds crashed his car on the Spaulding Turnpike on April 5, 2006, and disappeared just afterward, sparking an intense search of the area. He was found nearby under a pile of leaves about a day later, suffering from hypothermia.

1. This is a reprieve reply.
Like when you're strapped in the chair and the governor calls the death chamber with a stay of execution 5 minutes before they throw the switch?

In the spirit of the season, and because I've been in the same spot many times before, I've decided to reply to any post that nears the bottom of the page with '0' replies.
(Except copycats and song lyrics.)
I give you new life.
Use it wisely.

Happy Hollandaise

2. From your title, I though this thread was going to be about...
Katherine Harris' 2006 Senatorial campaign.

:spank:
