Face it, they were stuck on an island 24/7, and all of the men are walking around going "Let me help you with that Ginger" and How are you today Ginger" and "Ginger Ginger Ginger."

And what did Mary Anne do? Bake pie after pie after stinking coconut cream pie, without a single person on that island realizing that those pies were a cry for help.

Bastards. I hope they NEVER get off that island.

What? They DID? Harlem GLOBETROTTERS? What the HELL are you TALKING about?

1. You're a fool
Mary Ann had no interest in anyone on the island, nor does canonical evidence suggest any issues with intimacy. Here's the real story.

No one on the island actually enjoyed coconut cream pies. After an indefinite period eating nothing but coconuts, turtle eggs, fish, and the occasional radioactive vegetable, one more coconut cream pie would be frankly unpalatable.

Mary Ann knew this and chose to keep her fellow castaways at bay through her tireless baking; she gambled--successfully, as it turns out--that the demands of forced proximity would override any urge to rebuke her for her pies, but over time the resulting resentment would taint, corrupt, and destroy any amorous feelings that might have developed.

In this way Mary Ann was delivering a subtle yet forceful preemptive "no" to anyone who might otherwise have sought to put the moves on her, when she had no interest in acquiescing.

Damn Mary Ann Sauders and her passive aggressive interpersonal tactics! Damn her!

2. Wrong!
Mary Ann definitely had interests. Just not in any of the men, if you know what I mean.

Oh, and she wasn't interested in Ginger either.

You do the math.

3. I always figured Ginger was doing Thurston
They were always plotting together. She was probably doing everyone on the island except Mary Ann, who baked all those pies so that she always had a reason not to go off alone with the Professor or Skipper.

But you just know that Ginger and Thurston had a thing going in secret.

5. Gilligan: "I'd practically KILL to get some pie around here!"
She baked. She never quite got it.
