8. The Madness of King George

Knight, like many uber-successfull people was surrounded by sycophants for too long. He lost all perspective because no one could or would stand up to him.

Getting axed from IU came as a great shock to Knight. He thought he was beyond any of the discipline he so lavishly brutalized his players with.

In the end, he's just a hypocrite. He demands SO MUCH from his players, but so little from himself.

14. My sister worked for an agency in Indiana that treated abused children...

She threw a fit when they hired Bobby Knight to be the speaker at their fundraiser. "He hits the kids on his team" is what she told them. "Get Lou Holtz to do it, he doesn't hit the players on his team!". Lou was ND coach at the time.

Bobby Knight is scary. I wonder what the drop-out to NBA rate on his teams was-Isiah Thomas left after a very short time at IU to play for the Pistons, partly because he hated Knight.

18. Great Coach, Bad Temper

He will likely retire in a few years as the winningest coach of all time. His temper and the media hype surrounding it are a problem he just can't learn from. His drop-out rate is as low or lower than anyone's. His players from IU have a higher graduation rate than the University. (According to the records) ((Check out the great interview from Playboy a few years ago))--Also reference any book about him, authorized or otherwise. Money and academic scandal are nowhere to be found in his long history. He's just an ass-hole, thats all. But, I am a fan, so take that as you will. (He's a jerk, but he's my kinda jerk) :) :)

He knows how to coach basketball, and since he does, there will always be a college out there somewhere that's desperate or greedy enough to hire him.

He knows how to bully and intimidate. Is that really coaching?

Dean Smith is a coach. Mike Krzyzewski is a coach. Lou Holtz is a coach. And you know what? They do it all without bullying their players. And the guy who coached for so many years at Pitt, forget his name at the moment.

Anybody who thinks Bobby Knight is good coach needs to have their head examined, especially the people who hire him. :crazy:

Knows basketball. Wants to win without cheating, and puts up with his unfortunate temper. Coach K learned how to coach under Knight (without the attitude) and so did many others.

BTW he also brings mega-bucks ($$$$$) into the schools. Check out the IU library, and cancer research dollars.
