"No Country for Old Men" What an incredible film
Dark, intense, great writing and acting. Saw it yesterday and highly recommend it - unless you need a good laugh. A feel good film it is not.

And for something completely different - we are going to see "Enchanted" today!

Movies anyone?

1. I saw Enchanted last night
It was cute... and I was in the mood for a happy movie. :) I'm looking forward to seeing No Country for Old Men (love Tommy Lee Jones) and The Golden Compass.

5. Spoil it for me, because I'm not going to see it.
What is is that is so "challenging" that happens in the second half? Something unexpected, that the critics are saying, "challenges the moviegoer's expectations of what a movie should be?" I don't get it, and I don't really want to sit through 2 hours of blood and guts just to get it. Thanks!

10. Thanks
although from what I read, there is one specific event sometime in the second half, which is "unexpected" - I still don't know what it is.

11. One interesting aspect of this film - SPOILER
I felt compelled to root for one of the "bad guys" as really, they were pretty much all bad guys.

Reminded me of Mr. Brooks which I watched last weekend. That film sort of portrays a likeable serial killer. Interesting moral plays going on in both.

14. bob_weaver, Jeebus. There is no shock in the 2nd half of this movie.
Edited on Sat Nov-24-07 11:03 PM by kaiden
You need to go see it and tell us if there is a shock. This is not a happy ever after movie. Who ever wrote that review about a shock must have seen ENCHANTED first!

Corrected spelling to show I'm not completely drunk this Saturday night!

7. Didn't much care for the rather abrupt ending
but everything up to that point was great.

They didn't feel the need to fill every nook and cranny with useless chatter- they used wordless scenes to great effect. It's a good lesson for many directors to learn.

Four and a half stars from me.

you might want to ask a few others who said they saw it too, as my memory of details isn't that great.

18. Me and Ali just left the theater.
"No Country" was a 9 on a 1-10 scale. Great casting, usual Coen Bro's writing. Dead silence then scattered applause at the end.

21. "No Country for Old Men"--the movie has no ending, it just stops.
I took my 16 year old daughter to see this movie for Thanksgiving and I thought the nonending, not tying up any loose ends or the plot stunk. It's a great movie for the snobs to rave about how brilliant it is though. I wish that we had seen Enchanted. I think that "No Country for Old Men" will get killed by word of mouth and I don't think many will want to go see it again. I feel sorry for the guy who got up to use the bathroom only to be surprised when he returned that the movie was over. Those of us who were still in the theater were also surprised and many were not happy.

I've been waiting to see the movie for over a year. I'll probably get some time and cash to do so this week.
