Poll question: have you talked to your teens about recession?
Three big elephants are sitting the living room for American teens.
Climate change.
Probable recession and possible financial collapse.
Peak Oil.
We don't yet know what the effect will be on our country and our families. But it seems cruel to keep teens fully suspended in their fantasy pop culture, uninformed and without a family discussion and family plan.
Have you talked with your teens yet about the possibility that their world is going to change dramatically, very soon?
They know about global warming. They may have heard about peak oil. But have you talked to them about what a recession and collapse of the dollar and the stock market would mean to them in conjunction with peak oil and global warming?
1. Yes, and she demanded I give her some of my chicken anyhow.
My teenager is a cat named Sunday Girl. She's 15 years old. I wonder if I should go get her a driver's manual when she's 15 and a half. :D
And yes, I have mentioned to her that there are bad people in the world who are destroying mommy's and her chance at the luxury we so dream of. It just made her more of a scrounger for food. Nothing gets past her. She believes in a waste not/want not plan of action. It's good to know I raised a scrapper. If I ever really have children, they should do pretty well fending for themselves, even if it means biting my aunts lip to get the taco out to eat it. :p
