My great aunt has died...
She was 93, and lived a long and decent life. The last few years have been tough for her, as she gradually lost the ability to do for herself. I'll miss her, of course; but mostly I'm glad she's through with suffering, and had her children around her when she went.

Rest in peace, Aunt Esther. Thanks so much for all you gave...

9. Thank you, Perseid...
 I honestly feel more relief for her than anything else. She was tired of being stuck with needles, and I think she just felt it was time. She died knowing she was loved; and she was able to know her great great nephews and nieces before she left this world.

I'm happy she lived a full life. :)

12. I know it's difficult, but consider yourself
Edited on Sat Nov-24-07 12:21 AM by Perseid
in some ways "lucky" for the reasons that you gave.

sounds like a beautiful woman and a beautiful, peaceful way to end. You do know that many believe that an end is only the point for another beginning?

happiness wished for you and your family.

edit: damn those d's

6. Esther: what a strong, womanly name
My Mom chose Esther as her name for First Holy Communion.

Every Esther I've ever know has been really cool!

God rest Esther!

We are so grateful that you were here!

16. She did everything she could to make
other people's lives richer. She took very good care of herself so her kids wouldn't be saddled with long term care.

She was, as you say, a strong, womanly person. :-)

19. Relatively easy, yes...
She had pneumonia; and had given clear instructions with regard to how much she wanted done to prolong her life.

I honestly think she wanted to go on Thanksgiving...to give thanks for a life well-lived, and to have her children with her. She faced death with no fear...just a practical understanding that it was time to go.

23. It seems as though you are closer to your great-aunt than I have been to mine
It's nice to have a good relationship with such extended family. You probably got to hear more fun stories about your family than you otherwise would have.

My love to you.
