2. I don't love them...
But I don't HATE them either.

Face it, when a person is on a low-income like I am, Wal-Mart is pretty good.

And boycotting them only hurts the employees.

The top brass can care less.

3. I'm of the same thinking, honestly.

I don't like Wal Mart, but I do like that I can put food in the cabinets and maybe get some other things without having $0 in the bank at the end of the month. I realize they're the cheapest because they manipulate the local economy to make it so. Still doesn't change that many average people really have no alternatives where they live.

5. Actually they manipulate their distributors.
It is in the contract of the distributor that if they sell the product for less than what they paid for it, Walmart will be reimbursed by the distributor any money that was lost. So, all those sales they do for like 75-90 per cent off, the difference is charged back the to the distributor. Skip, my husband, used to work for the people who provide their black powder supplies.

10. Not so fast, I used to shop there, but then...
I noticed their stuff while looking as good as the competition, wore out twice as fast. I'm referring to the clothing.

I also noticed that the stores were depressing, the workers seemed unhappy and unfriendly so that checkout took forever even with just a couple people ahead in line. The return experience was nightmarish, long and almost not worth the refund.

I just gave up on the place. It had bad vibes, a bad reputation (deservedly) and didn't have redeeming qualities to offset that stuff.

Worse, I didn't save money there. I would go there because some drug store items were cheaper, but then I'd buy say, a new printer and I just found myself spending more money by just entering the store in the first place.

I'm done with Wal Mart. Now my conscience doesn't even let me shop there, unless say I'm in Fallon, Nevada, on the road and don't have other options.

7. I've begun to at least slightly appreciate one Wal-Mart in particular
Every morning I drive from Fayetteville to Lumberton to work. I get to work before 7am. Wal-Mart is the only place that sells groceries that's open that early in the morning, and I usually don't feel like eating when I leave the house.

So...for breakfast I'll sometimes stop at the Lumberton Wal-Mart and grab some fruit, pastries and juice. It's got to be better for you than Hardee's All Grease Breakfast.

9. My friend bought a suit at Wal Mart for $82
Jacket was $59 and pants were $23.

I was skeptical, but it didn't look bad.

I'm trying to remmber the brand name, ummm, Jordache? Not sure.

11. Its very rare that I buy clothes from them, but once in a while
they do have something nice that I'd pick out. As for shoes, I only buy their shoes for work and play, they dont last very long but hey, there only 15 bucks about. Electronics, FORGET IT!! They have nothing good except one laptop I'm interested in http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7779567&povid=cat4070-env7711-module81592-rLink9 That one is priced really good for the specs though!

13. I can't stand them!
Edited on Sat Nov-24-07 09:40 PM by Breeze54
I used to shop there about five yrs. ago or more but all their stuff breaks or shrinks
and then I have to replace it, so I don't shop there anymore. I also stopped shopping
there due to their discrimination against women and treatment of low paid workers.
But if someone decides to shop there, due to finances or no other choice, then go for it.

They make it so incredibly easy to point to a textbook example of predatory capitalism.
