A few years ago, I was playing with a band (I'm a guitar player)...

We were practicing and I played the opening chords to Humble Pie's "Stone Cold Fever"...love that song...

"dun dun dun dun dun...dun DUN dun..."

And my fellow guitarist said "Stop playing that shit."

Now, I thought Peter Frampton's best work was in Humble Pie. FUCK "Frampton Comes Alive"...have you HEARD "Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore?" Have you HEARD "Walk On Gilded Splinters?"

So my immediate reaction was "NO. No, I won't stop playing that shit. I'll play it WITH or WITHOUT you, but I WILL play it."

That's my wish for you on this Thanksgiving.

Play your shit.

Play it loud, play it proud, play it without apology, play it loud to those who "get" it and turn it to 11 for those who DON'T.

Male, female, gay, straight, black, white, purple...play it loud, play it proud...just PLAY it.

1. I feel your pain..

I have played in a few bands over the years. Seems to be one shit in any band that wants "lead."

I still play with an old friend from time to time and in that setting he becomes a total asshole.

He can best be described as David Lee Roth, but short and the attitude of a pissed off Biker.

7. The band had been telling me that for ages

Until one time (in band camp) we were at a dead gig, nobody on the floor, no requests, complete yawnathon and I did the synth intro to 'Turn it loose' just to piss people off and shake the place up a bit and the lead guitarist went for it and suddenly people were whooping and hollerin' and the dance floor filled up and we ended up completely re-thinking our set list.
