Canadians: "This is Wonderland" is total crap.
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 12:56 AM by CanuckAmok
A new low for CBC 'programmers". Complely ininteresting, unrealistic, and unfunny. And that lead character...are we supposed to feel some sort of compassion or empathy for that whiney, incompetent, imbicilic crybaby?!

Can we please cancel this taxpayer-funded crapfest NOW?!

1. The new series of "The Newsroom," on the other hand ...
... takes dark comedy to an all-new level of darkness. Brilliant and almost painful to watch in places.

Don't spoil tonight's episode, though -- I haven't watched it yet.

2. OMG, it's brilliant...
George hits an all-time low at lunch...

3. Yes!
Just got back from watching the tape. I think a common theme is emerging for this series. :)

But my favorite moment came right at the beginning with this happy exchange:
Fact of the matter is, if people feel threatened, they want more information."
"And they watch more news."
"And they're better informed, and that's why we're here."
"To threaten the widest possible audience?"

So, is the deal that Showcase is eventually going to show all these new episodes, with f-words intact?

6. For me, it's the shallowness of George himself...
I wasa in hysterics as he sat and ate 'nearly extinct' seabass after his lunch date was killed en route to the restaurant, and then explained, between bites, to anyone who asked, that he was 'too upset to eat'. And ordering the lobster once he knew he'd been 'comped'....pure George Finlay.

I have a copy of the book which came out after season one. It has all the scripts in it, including the 'special', when Jim, shot dead, runs for office as a liberal candidate.

My favourite line of the entire series, to date:

George: "Well, ah, this is really a young person's job. Lots of running around, and, er, being on your feet all day..."

Older female internship interviewee: "I rock-climb..."

George: "Well, we have elevators now..."

Interviewee: (blank stare).

4. I am new to Canadian TV
and I agree with you on "Wonderland." I think I was expecting a Law and Order type show, which it is not. I find myself addicted to Train 48 though, which alot of my Canadian friends cannot understand.

7. 'DaVinci's Inquest' is pretty good if I remember.......
correctly; not to mention that 'Hockey Night in Canada' is ALWAYS time well spent.
