Post obscure songs that people should hear but won't otherwise.
Air Traffic - No More Running Away

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWu80KFbq1A

It's people scattered on the floor,
Cool war kids are running out of time,
It's such a shame to see,
It's such a shame to feel the way,

The sun comes streaming through the clouds,
Dust and dirt are settled all around,
I hear the same old words,
I see the same old warning scars,

We're out of luck this time,
We've fallen apart,
We're out of luck this time,

Tears are rolling down my face,
Feeds the fear that's running through the stream,
And oh I don't wanna feel,
But I don't wanna feel this way,

We're out of luck this time,
We've fallen apart,
We're out of luck this time,

No more running away
No more running away

12. Spinning Away - Brian Eno and John Cale (Wrong Way Up - 1990)
Spinning Away

Up on a hill, as the day dissolves
With my pencil turning moments into line
High above in the violet sky
A silent silver plane - it draws a golden chain

One by one, all the stars appear
As the great winds of the planet spiral in
Spinning away, like the night sky at Arles
In the million insect storm, the constellations form

On a hill, under a raven sky
I have no idea exactly what I've drawn
Some kind of change, some kind of spinning away
With every single line moving further out in time

And now as the pale moon rides (in the stars)
Her form in my pale blue lines (in the stars)

And there, as the world rolls round (in the stars)
I draw, but the lines move round (in the stars)

There, as the great wheels blaze (in the stars)
I draw, but my drawing fades (in the stars)

And now, as the old sun dies (in the stars)
I draw, and the four winds sigh (in the stars)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/B000002LNB001006/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_006

"SPINNING AWAY is a very easy one for me to talk about, because it has a feature that I like a lot, and that I have used before as well. I like very much to have contrasts of speed. For instance I like to have very very fast staccato rhythms, chopped-up rhythms, which very liquid vocals running over the top of them. Maybe the best example of this is not on one of my records, but on the Donna Summer song "I Feel Love" with Georgio Moroder playing. The synthesizer part on that is very very technological and mechanical, Kraftwerk almost, but her singing over it is just like a beautiful liquid feeling going on over the top. Anyway, I have that kind of feeling in Spinning Away, something of two very opposing qualities: a rhythm that is staccato, off-balance slightly. If you listen to the way the drums begin on that song, they have a strange, off-balance feeling. Their sound is crisp. The vocals on the other hand, and the violins are not played in the same mood, they're in almost a different musical universe. They float on top of this sea of action, you know, this sea of activity. And the violins play in a different time signature: dam dam dam dam dada over taka tak taka taka taka tak taka taka... Well, actually I'm not very good at talking about that particular piece of music (laughs)." -- Brian Eno, interviewed by Michael Engelbrecht.

75. Well, in the U.S. they never had another hit.
In the U.K. they had some success after "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime".

The rest of their music is fairly generic early '80's synth-pop; it's pleasant to listen to, but nothing that comes close to their hit.

27. The Crack in Your Door by Little Feat
I don't
even know what I did wrong
But her old man said if I didn't get out of town
I might not live too long

And I can still see her mother with her hair up in rollers
As she cast a telling glance at that young girl's red hot eyes

Sometimes I think I could lose
All my troubles but here I stand
They're trying to cure me with nicotine and whiskey
Watching their faces passing me by

And I've been holding out my hand
Waiting for love to come at my command
But the glow from around my head is gone
And if I don't get a ride real soon
I might be dead in the ground

Sometimes I think I could lose
All my troubles but here I stand
They're trying to cure me with nicotine and whiskey
Watching their faces passing me by

There's no need to follow
Look into the eyes of this wandering stranger
I won't rob or steal your money
So don't let the wind through the crack in your door
Don't let the wind through the crack in your door

33. Enigma - Gravity of Love.
I always think everybody I know just has to know about this song and I'm always surprised when people have no clue who Enigma is much less this. I love it. I love the video. I love the bass line and the lyrics and the vocals. I love the Carmina Burana bump-in (I sang that Orff in college so it's got a special place in my heart). OK I'm done gushing now.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jb12Un0yX4

"O Fortuna, velut Luna" ("O Fortune like the Moon")

Turn around and smell what you don't see
Close your eyes ... it is so clear
Here's the mirror, behind there is a screen
On both ways you can get in.
Don't think twice before you listen to your heart,
Follow the trace for a new start.
What you need and everything you'll feel
Is just a question of the deal.
In the eye of storm you'll see a lonely dove
The experience of survival is the key
To the gravity of love.

"O Fortuna, velut Luna"

(Whispers: )
(Woman: )
The path of excess leads to the tower of Wisdom
(Man: )
The path of excess leads to the tower of Wisdom

Try to think about it...
That's the chance to live your life and discover
What it is, what's the gravity of love

"O Fortuna, velut Luna"

Look around just people, can you hear their voice
Find the one who'll guide you to the limits of your choice.
But if you're in the eye of storm
Just think of the lonely dove
The experience of survival is the key
To the gravity of love.

"O Fortuna, velut Luna"
"O Fortuna, velut Luna"

36. Women Seem
I'm the girl version of this song

Women seem to like me
They seem to like what I have to say
When they see me out in public
Women seem to look my way
Women seem to treat me so gracious
They sing me to sleep with a song
But there always seems to be a problem
Women don't seem to like me long

Yeah Yeah Yeah

Women seem to want me
To stay with them all night
We have so much in common
Our futures really do seem bright
Women seem to forgive me
They seem to become my very good friends
But when it comes time for a commitment
The romance always seems to end

They tell me all their stories
We lay awake and talk all night
Maybe it's me I don't know
But in the morning there always seems to be some kind of fight

La La La La La

Well women seem to be so clever
I love all the jokes that they tell
Like my last boyfriend really hurt me in bed
Hey but you seem to fit so well
Women sure can hurt your feelings
They can burn you down and not make a sound
And then they call me up and say hey come over
My husband has just left town

They tell me all their stories
We lay awake and laugh all night
Maybe it's me I don't know
But in the morning there always seems to be some kind of fight

Women seem to love houses
I've bought a couple for one or two
Women seem to think all men are louses
And I guess I think so too
Women seem so much smarter
Than your average Joe
Women seem to be a little more intuitive
And when they lie nobody knows

Well women seem to know how to keep a secret
They don't blabbermouth just for show
Fifty percent of their charm is illusion
And that is a good thing to know

Women seem to like me
They seem to like what I have to say
And when they see me out in public
Women seem to look my way

Yeah Yeah Yeah

Women seem to like
They seem to like what I have to say

La La La La La

44. Loved The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus
Nature's Way and Mr. Skin were a favs

Nature's Way
(In tune with yesterday, In tune with today)

It's nature's way of telling you something's wrong
It's nature's way of telling you in a song
It's nature's way of receiving you
It's nature's way of retrieving you
It's nature's way of telling you
Something's wrong

It's nature's way of telling you, summer breeze
It's nature's way of telling you, dying trees
It's nature's way of receiving you
It's nature's way of retrieving you
It's nature's way of telling you
Something's wrong
It's nature's way, it's nature's way
It's nature's way, it's nature's way

It's nature's way of telling you
Something's wrong
It's nature's way of telling you
In a song, oh-h

It's nature's way of receiving you
It's nature's way
It's nature's way of retrieving you
It's nature's way
It's nature's way of telling you
Something's wrong, something's wrong, something's wrong

Mr. Skin
(In reading the lyrics, it sounds like a really dumb song.
BUT! The music and beat is catchy, and the horns in this piece really make it great!)

I raise my head in a touchy situation
(Mr. Skin you know where you've been)
Yes, I make my bed in the heart of the nation
(Mr. Skin you know where you've been)
I know its a trait of human love to make all the people holler
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na

47. Tah Geggy--Driving in My Car
all i wanna do is to thank you
even though i dont know who you are
you let me change lanes
while i was driving in my car
All i wanna do is to thank you
even though i dont know who you are
you let me change lanes
while i was driving in my car

who ever your are
i wanna thank you
who ever your are
i wanna thank you
who ever your are
i wanna thank you
who ever your are

all i wanna do is to exit
so i go to where i can get off
on a curve through a shoulder
theres not parking in that trough
so i drive around all day
combing atmospheric haze
till i wanna get on agian
then all i have to say is

all i wanna do is to thank you
even though i dont know who you are
you let me change lanes
while i was driving in my car
All i wanna do is to thank you
even though i dont know who you are
you let me change lanes
while i was driving in my car

who ever your are
i wanna thank you
who ever your are
i wanna thank you
who ever your are
i wanna thank you
who ever your are

all i wanna do is to tune in
radio L.A. Luah
cause were broadcasting live
and we wanna hear all of ya
on the mic is geggy tah but a whole lot more of all ya
let us hear ya let us hear ya
in a big echoing holla

all i wanna do is to thank you
even though i dont know who you are
you let me change lanes
while i was driving in my car

who ever you are
i wanna thank you
who ever you are
i wanna thank you
who ever you are
i wanna thank you
who ever you are

all i wanna do is to thank you
even though i dont know who you are
you let me change lanes
while i was driving in my car

who ever you are
i wanna thank you
who ever you are
i wanna thank you
who ever you are
i wanna thank you
who ever you are

51. It's actually Geggy Tah.
Too much overalphabetizing in that CD collection!

Like the people I used to work with who filed Pink Floyd under "Floyd" on the assumption that there was someone in the band with that name.

71. My bad....
The song immediately came to mind when I thought about the original question, but I didn't know the artist for the life of me. I did a quick lyrics search for the song and I guess whoever provided the lyrics screwed up the band name.

70. my favorite lesbian song
Carolyn's Fingers by Cocteau Twins
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh83z5vIP0w

It probably isn't really a lesbian song, but in my mind it is, because it like what being with a woman is like put to music. The video is kind of strange to watch and I never saw it til the dawn of youtube, I'm talking about the audio.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN5E-FYzm8c

every day there is some kind of darkness
that just won't go away no matter how hard I try
crawls into your system while your guard is down
becomes the ball you like to drag around to
every party, to every function
to give to people with written instructions
don't try to get away i'm here to stay

my name is fait

every night sleep wanders on its own
never once does it kiss me with its chloroform
it crawled into my system while my guard was down
became the boy i like to have around at
every party and every function
i give to people with written instructions
don't try to get away i'm here to stay

my name is fait

i've come to crush your bones
i've come to make you feel old
i've come to mess with your head
'cause it will make you feel good

come to the party
come to the function
give me aggression with written instructions
don't try to get away
i'm here to stay
hear me now

fait

86. Now there's a blast from the past!
Seemed like that band was gonna explode around '90-'91. Just a few years later I saw 'em in a tiny dive in front of less than 20 people. What happened?

Great band and great song regardless. Thanks for posting.
