39. You are absolutely right!! I get my holiday sweet potato pies from a local
caterer -- she makes the best sweet potato pie I have ever tasted! I always get an extra one to stash away for after the holidays...and I have to hide it from my father-in-law!

4. Some people like their pie heated. Others like it right from the fridge
the next day.

It's so damnably hard to please everyone, isn't it? One hardly knows where to begin.

6. True. Lemon meringue is not to be lightly dismissed.
I like it and its noble cousin, key lime pie pretty darn well.

43. Fair to midlin. I'm enjoying the autumn days and listening to some
good music, walking the dog, keeping an eye out for the trends from Iowa.

I hope all's well your way, tigereye.

7. No matter whether you like pumpkin pie and whipped cream, do you
personally feel it would be good to introduce a phrase regarding the moment of dessert, just before the pie is wheeled out to the Thanksgiving table, which everyone could repeat in unison to the host or hostess, such as,

"Heat my pie! Heat my pie" ?

The argument being that it would draw people together as families and friends in a common expression of desire for a traditional dessert.

Now of course accommodations would have to be made for people who prefer their pumpkin pie chilled. Perhaps they could chant,

"Chill the pie! Chill the pie!" to the host or hostess as a signal of their preferred dessert temperature.

11. jtg33, I'm with you on both. I don't want to get in between the heat my pie
pumpkin pie eats and the chill my pie pumpkin pie eaters.

That's a fool's errand to be sure, but I'm with you all the way on the whipped cream.

Bring my portion in with a coupla wheelbarrows!

10. Food. Of. The. Gods.
Pumpkin pie has no equal. It is the finest dessert food ever created. No question. No debate. I could eat it all day long, every day. Whipped cream on top is nice, but not necessary. Just the pie. The pie. Mmmmmmmmm.....

Sorry, what was the question?

20. Whipped cream, yes. Pumpkin pie no.
Can't stand Pumpkin Pie. My son seems to have inherited his mother's taste genes. He doesn't like marmite, I do. I like mushrooms, he doesn't. I like baked beans, he doesn't. He likes celery, I don't.

So there goes.

Mark.

38. I'm sorry, but anyone who hates pumpkin pie hates...
kittens, the first robin of spring, little baby Jesus, and everything else American. Probably their mothers and George W. Bush, too.

(Well, ok, that last one you get a pass on.)

There is just no hating the sacred and revered Pumpkin Pie, with or without whipped cream.
