2. i don't have any idea of what i'm getting for anyone including my husband and daughter
so i asked her to make a list of what she would like "Jeez Mom, nothing, i can't think of anything besides book store and itunes gift cards" thats pretty bad when even a 13 year old doesn;t want anything.

8. actually it's pretty good
you've apparently provided well for your daughter. You've also raised her well -- she knows there's more to life than stuff.

3. I never do my Christmas shopping before the last week
Often, I'm running around on Christmas Eve getting the bulk of it. But I actually enjoy that.

I discovered long ago that the earlier I started shopping, the more I bought, because I'd just keep doing it until Christmas Eve anyway. :)

36. Not really, but I suppose it might if I had a lot of people to shop for
I just have my son and my partner, and two or three friends.

If you don't like dealing with the crowds, Amazon is a good place to buy from, since they give you "last day to order" shipping deadlines and you can usually buy pretty close to the holiday. I used to use Overstock a lot, but they screwed me last year.

and she has the book "A thousand places to see before you die" and she needs a map to stick push pins for the locations she wants to go. Thanks for the link, i'm thinking my nieces would like that as well.

this year. My friend Mary and her son are coming out to spend the holiday with us this year, he other son got deployed and is in Kirkuk and she can't deal with her family right now, her extended family that is so she's coming to hang out in California for week. I'm really looking forward to her visit, just not Christmas.

23. My Christmas shopping usually begins...
...at around 11:50pm on December 24th, and consists of a panicked dash to the nearest gas station "all nite shop." Say what you like, but my family never runs short of windscreen washer fluid and jumper cables.

for anyone other than those close to me in my daily life.

My family, and others understand.

That's the way I am. I give to those who have given to me during the year.

39. I either make a gift, or don't give one
My family is very big and for a long time all our spare $$ went into caring for an aging, ill mother (who now, thank goodness, has full benefits)- the only thing we'd buy gifts for was an extraordinary event, like a graduation or wedding, something that doesn't necessarily come every year. So for Christmas, we just either make gifts, or call each other. We make the house festive with boughs, etc. (don't buy a tree - don't like the idea of cutting a tree just to toss it away) and always make really good food, but that's about it.

The entire capitalist frenzy at the holidays really pisses me off. I guess I'm just a Scrooge.

and I don't plan to shop for anyone else. I have a bunch of stuff to prepare for a fund raising party, and a Christmas party at our YWCA for the resident girls

I have to get through Thanksgiving and my daughter's birthday first.
