Anyone want to tell me if i'd like Philadelphia?
...a copycat, yes, but an honest question! :D

I just applied for a job there. It's a long shot that i'd get it, but if any Philadelphians (???) want to promote their city, i'm all ears!

The job, if you're curious, is at the Philly zoo. It's an incredible gig -- half curator/education person at the zoo, and half conservation research biologist. Amazing!!! But i'm just coming out of grad school, so i'm sure they'll have many applicants with more experience than i have. We'll see...

1. I know some people who love the Philly area.
It's too much of an endless, sprawling 'burb for my tastes, though. I hope the job works out for you! :applause:

2. Thanks deucemagnet!
I'll be coming from Columbus, OH so i know about sprawling 'burbs... but there are some great neighborhoods here, so i'm hoping i'll find their equivalent wherever i end up! Right now i live in a great, historic, artsy, lefty neighborhood. So that's what i'm after. :)

3. Philadelphia is excellent,
;ots of good theater, opera, films, dancing, sports (well, maybe not so good), and especially restaurants. Excellent places for vegetarians (and non-veggies, of course also).
If you lived near the zoo, very easy to get downtown.

5. Sweet!
That's what i was hoping to hear... I figure it's a big east coast city, there's got to be lots of fun, food & culture. (I am a vegetarian, so the restaurant info is good to know!)

I have a good friend living in Manyunk (sp???) and she says that's a great neighborhood. But i probably shouldn't get my hopes up too much about this move!

7. Well, good luck.. The excellent veggie (vegan actually)
restaurant is Horizons (downtown), plus a number of good veggie Chinese restaurants, and good afghan also.

4. I visited the area a few times.
It's nice. The art museum is quite nice. Plus, if you don't like living in Philly, or in PA, you can live in DE or NJ.

Good luck on the job hunt.

6. Thanks!
I still have a little while to finish my degree, so i shouldn't really even be applying yet -- but this job looked like too much fun not to try!
