Fuck!!! My father-in-law has just been diagnosed with that new
strain of MRSA!

He's in the hospital, and they are filling him with anti-biotics. I hope to God they work.

4. I hope for the best, for him
I had it about a year and a half ago, and the antibiotics killed the infection.
I'm confident his care will work.

25. Good luck with that.
I just moved halfway across the country because of those little buggers. My grandpa was in the hospital for other reasons and he caught it there. The medicine they gave him had a lot of sodium in it, and he's had some problems with sodium in the past so it ended up screwing up his kidneys and now he's on dialysis. Which is where I come in. I'm helping out around the house and making sure he gets to dialysis 3 times a week.

Hopefully your FIL will get over it easier than my grandpa.

35. He's recovering pretty well, it's just the dialysis that's really gonna be a pain.
Edited on Fri Nov-16-07 10:31 PM by DarkTirade
12 hours a week just sitting there... and it really wears him out for the rest of the day after that. And his eyesight is starting to go, so he can't even sit there and read a book. My older brother bought him an ipod, so he'll have music to listen too, or possibly I could try to get some books on tape for him.

I wish we could get it scheduled at night, that way he could sleep it off afterwards. But the only time they could fit him in was at a ridiculously early time of the morning. We'll just have to keep poking and prodding until a better timeslot opens up I guess.

*edit* Or rather, books on CD. That will be ripped to my harddrive, and then onto his iPod. :) So there should be no tape involved.

36. I think the books on tape (or iPod) is a great idea.
Just sitting there can be tiring in and of itself, so hopefully, if he can listen to a book while he's getting his dialysis, it will help overall.

40. Yeah, he and my grandma have always both been avid readers
the house is full to the brim with books. I think the only rooms in the house that don't have at least one bookshelf in them are the bathrooms and the kitchen.

And there are a few cookbooks at least in there. :)

I'm fairly certain it runs in the family too... since I brought five boxes of books up with me.

42. People after my own heart.
I have a mini library in the room I'm in; I need to add more bookshelves so I can unpack the rest of them.

My mom is a voracious reader, as are both my sisters.

I'd be lost without books.
