I had to put an order in for the materials that will be used in my boss's course in January. Sometimes, instead of ordering from the publisher, we "attach" something to the order form, and that item is just copied and included with the other stuff.

The typical protocol for attachments is that you deliver a single-sided hard copy and you number the pages on the back in blue pencil (1 of 12, 2 of 12, etc).

I had an order form of about 30 items. I had one 4-page attachment. The number of pages of this attachment was noted on the order form. I pdf'd the attachment, which had page numbers on it (1, 2, 3, 4).

No that's not protocol, but it's ONE lousy 4-page attachment.

In the time it took to send an e-mail saying "this won't do" the recipient could have printed out the 4 pages and printed what he needed on the back of them.

But hell, no.

I get that some people have a ton of attachments. I get that not all of the attachments are going to be numbered nicely.

But jeez... when sending an email takes longer than just printing out the document.... that's just f'd up.
