Yet more pics (Florida)...
These were taken with my older camera...

on a 3-day trip to Florida (Melbourne area) last month:

Notice the beach erosion from a storm the week before:

Sunrise, from my father's backyard:

Leaving Melbourne:

I took this on the decent into the Melbourne area...
it was such a peaceful sunset above the clouds:

1. Love your dad's back yard!
It's like my in-laws. They live on a canal.

8. Oh, very nice!
They have much more of a yard than my father's.... every time they re-build his seawall, after a storm, they have to take more away from it, too (eeek!).

I was pretty disappointed in these. Wish I'd had my new camera last month.

13. Florida is actually an extremely beautiful place...
Once you get away from all the sprawl and development, which has unfortunately been allowed to florish for too many years now.

But the diversity of plant and wildlife here is virtually unchallenged amongst all the states. If you get out of the cities and into the country side and rural areas, you'll get this sense of this wonderful lushfulness.

My favorite Florida place:

14. Ichetucknee, right?
(and no, that is not a venereal disease). One of my favorites as well.

Here's a seriously cool photo by a local artist of it at night:

18. Awesome!
I've always fantasized about swimming in the springs at night.

Thankfully, Itchetucknee still looks crystal clear. That despite the huge cement plant built downriver courtesy of our infamous former governor/First Brother, who allowed it to be built after accepting $190,000 in political donations/bribes from the plant's owner.

23. It is very relaxing there!
I'm really happy for him, that he's settled down in such a nice place. I do worry about the hurricane threat, sometimes, though. Especially, since he lives on one of the barrier islands (seen in the aerial shot).

22. I LOVE, LOVE LOVE Florida's flowering shrubs and trees....
And the Bougainvillea is so amazing. Also, I could spend days in the Everglades, just taking in the sights and sounds. You can have the beaches and Miami, though.

24. Yeah, I really don't care for Miami much
I lived in florida 30 years ago, when I was a kid, so I've seen a lot of changes... too many, I'm afraid.
