1. It's Been Years, But I Recall An Even Worse Set Up for Law School and the LSAT
In order to take the LSAT, you had to sign up with the LSDS. You forwarded your transcript to the LSDS, and they would submit your law school application along with your test score. You had to pay for each application.

Again, it's been almost 20 years since I did this crap. So, maybe someone else here can speak more on this subject.

3. You know, I considered Grad school a while back and I think it
was the thought of sitting through another test that made me decide not to. And I got a 1460 on my SAT back when that menat something!

4. Now the SAT is completely new
In fact, I think I was either the last or second to last class to have scores on the 1600 scale.

10. Ah yes, the new writing section
When I taught in DC there were huge debates community wide about whether the new writing section was inherently biased against inner city students, as their writing abilities tended to be two to three grade levels below what was expected. Even my students were pretty miffed at it, and I know that our highest score school-wide was a 1400/1800 (essentially, one student came back as higher than average out of a population of 400 test takers) that year.

5. You still have to do that.
It was $100 something for LSDAS sign-up (and that included handling the applications on their end), another $100 something for the LSAT itself, and then applications cost whatever the schools charge (unless you get a fee waiver).

Then again, it costs around a thousand times that to go to law school, so it's all relative.

7. You know, when I see the people making $8 per hour complaining that they haven't gotten a raise in
years and the reason they make $8 an hour is because the passed up all the chances they had to get some kind of skill that would earn them much more, I am very glad I paid what ever it took to get my skill that earns me very much more than $8 an hour.

Maybe some day you will regret that decision.

11. I'm sorry, but what the hell does your comment have to do with this?
It smacks of elitism--"Passed up all the chances"? Give me a break--a large population can't even afford to take the risk that might pay off for them.

FWIW, I make much more than 8 an hour. Doesn't mean that 130$ comes cheap to me or anyone else--that's a lot of money.

9. GMAT is $250
All tests seems to be expensive these days, including the ones I took to get my teaching certification.

I took the GMAT last October and am in my first semester of an MBA program now. I get to start looking for 10 week internships in January. I think I'll end up ahead of my test cost when all is said and done, so I do not regret it at all.

Now, having to pay all the damn fees to get my wife registered as a permanent alien, on the other hand...
