February 2nd in rock 'n' roll history

48 years ago: Atlantic Records signs the Coasters, and rushes to release their first record, "Down in Mexico," written by new Atlantic writers Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. (1956)

47 years ago: Fats Domino sings "Blueberry Hill" and "Blue Monday" on Perry Como's television show. (1957)

45 years ago: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper make their last onstage appearances during the GAC Winter Show tour, at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. (1959)

2. Perhaps, but think of all the amazing times you've lived through!

If you're old enough to remember 1959, then you've experienced firsthand so many important historical events that a person my age (37) has only ever read about or seen in documentaries. In a way, I kind of envy you!
