What is your favorite story of his? I don't have a clear winner, but "I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream" has got to be a high-water mark in the area of speculative fiction. I also like his deceptively peaceful titles like "Along The Scenic Route", and "A Boy And His Dog".

51. My cousin went to college with Stephen King
Actually, King had just graduated, but was in grad school. They had the same faculty advisor. One day my cousin was in his advisor's office when King went walking by. The professor yelled out, "Steve, Steve, come in here. I want you to meet a new member of our group."

So there you have it: He used to be known as Steve King.

50. Can you take my word for it?
Well, at a local music fest, I was on this side acoustic stage doing a solo w/ guitar. This kind of cool gal is hanging around in her van, telling me about her travels out west, etc. She was going to do a solo as well. We started kicking around a song to duet on and we worked up "Love Hurts" a la Gram and Emmy Lou. And there is a pic of that--singing close into same mic--some where in these boxes in my apt.

She went on to be famous as Jewel inside of a couple of years. Me, I teach part time at a community college. Bet she's sorry now.

I would post the pic of me performing with Shania Twain. She has one song that she gets kids form a local school to perform with, and when she came to Orlando back in what, '99 or so, they picked our school.

You can juuuust barely see my face behind her arm in that picture. And you can't see the face of the guy next to me because her butt was in the way.

I'm sure he was looking straight at the camera though.

73. He was the one we knew would turn professional...
...but it was still a surprise for me when I returned stateside in '95 and spotted him in Exit 57. I first met him 'cause my father was his freshman adviser, and a childhood friend of mine roomed with him.

We dated for a few months, actually. :sarcasm:

Seriously though, I do. Pretty cool lady. Very, very, very tall. We talked about Florida's natural springs for a while.

:D They're such nice guys (not to mention very talented!). I used to live in Staunton when I was a kid, and every year they used to come back and put on a free 4th of July concert for us...it was awesome! :hi:

81. LIke I said...I'm not a country person, but...
He did a great show - very entertaining. He was also really nice backstage. He spent a lot of time talking with my daughter (vs. a quick photo op).

I was impressed.
