Worst January Ever....
I'm glad its over. Here's why:

1) Jan 3, got laid-off from job of 4 years.
2) Jan 3, later, got into an auto accident(no injuries). Guy in van pulls out in front of me, I swerve and hit an oncoming vehicle at low speed. Cop assigns no fault, says since I didn't hit the guy he's not part of the accident (???). Down $500 deductible. :grr:
3) Jan 24, slip on icy road, fall and nearly break my arm. Still sore.
4) Jan 28, family friend dies in sleep at age 70. No medical history. :(

I'm not conscious of any karmic debt I had incurred, but WOW! Thanks for the gripe space folks, I just wanted to get it off my chest. Lets hope February is better.

I hope it's not a sign of what the rest of the year is going to be like!

Good luck finding a better job!

4. And if you were unlucky enough to be in the Northeastern U.S....

...it was one of the coldest, most miserable Januaries on record! :scared:

5. I hear you, my friend. Unfortunately, my February is on repeat.
1/1/04 - received phonecall that stepfather had massive heart attack NYE - not expected to live. Fly back to MI, spend 3 weeks there WAITING for him to die - lots of rollercoaster ups and downs - he doesn't die, they wean him off life support, then respirator, then whatever other crap he was hooked up to, stabalize him, send him home. I return to WA. Mom calls Friday to report doctor appt conclusions - they say he's doing much better than expected, can start driving, can probably return to work in July.

Today - 2/2/04 - Get email from mom. She just got home from hosptial. He's been taken back to the er - not looking good. I don't have any more info than that.

7. Thanks -
I'm not going home this time, so it will save a small amount of aggravation. And he didn't have a heart attack this time - mom's email said (it wasn't very clear) - that his blood pressure was "70" (she must mean the top number) and when they tried to do it again to verify they couldn't do a reading. They did an ekg - the results were not good, and that they are keeping him at least overnight for observation.

Yeah...January was HELL - here's hoping for no funerals in February, because I can't afford to go back home.

I have a friend that also has a bad January situation - TWO car wrecks, after a whole driving career (he's 48) without one, nervous breakdown, heart broken by a girl, and his daughter's having a nervous breakdown as well.

So effing LONG, January! :)
