I just saw a fox!
Ordinarily, that wouldn't be strange, but I live in the city. At first, I thought it was a dog who'd gotten loose, so I whistled at it. When it turned around it looked at me with a little fox face! I was so surprised. Do any of you city-dwellers have foxes?

1. They're all over LA.....
coyotes are even more common, but I see foxes with some regularity. Wish they'd work harder on keeping the skunk population down.....

4. There's a fox who comes around my place --
(but it's woody suburban). Poor old gal is having a tough time this winter. She looked like her tail might have been frostbitten when I caught sight of her.

Definitely not going to clear out the brushpile until Spring. When I cleared it a couple of years ago I found her den.

3. I'm in suburban DC
and though I'm inside the Beltway, I'm also near a wooded park which is in a stream valley. I've often seen grey foxes in the park, and I've even seen them venture into my neighbors' yards on occasion.

They're so cool! :-)

5. Kit Fox
We have Kit Fox's around here In Fresno.
They are really cute and small, not much bigger than a large house cat.

6. I've seen them in Lake county north of chicago
as well as in Dupage county, to the west.

and although I personally haven't seen any where I live in chicago, we're near the north branch of the chicago river, and there have been reported sightings

7. We have them here, but I guess Champaign
might be too small to be considered a "city". I see them in the woods by the nature center all the time. It's especially thrilling when I'm leading a school tour and the kids get to see them. No matter how many times I see a deer or a fox or some other wildlife, it is still exciting every time.
