I have a new kitten!

I was visiting family friends on a farm in Nebraska for the last few days, and they have a mama cat who mostly lives in the garage and who had a couple of babies in July. Their daughter will take one of them home at Thanksgiving, but they needed a home for the other one -- otherwise who knows what might have happened to her? They lose a lot of cats to coyotes, and they don't allow their animals in the house (no cats, not even the hunting dogs). So anyhow, I just HAD to take the second kitty, who is an adorable, cuddly, friendly, purry little ball of fuzz who is a mix of farm cat, Persian (this family had a smoke Persian some years ago who managed to contribute to the farm cat gene pool -- almost all the cats in the area now have longish fur), and Siamese (a neighbor had a part-Siamese tom who got around, too). She's mostly cream-colored with a dark gray striped tail, grayish-brown ears and a darker tabbyish face (unevenly matched stripes and whisker spots like a tiger), but no "points" on her legs or feet, which are cream/white. And she has Siamese blue eyes.

I'm about to take her to the vet for a checkup before I introduce her to the other cats. Pictures will be forthcoming (yes, I know the rule). Name suggestions would also be appreciated (her original name is Puff).

Nebraska farm kitties are THE BEST! I had a few of those growing up in, well, Nebraska. :D

I should probably say that quietly, lest my 2 California kitties overhear... ;)

Your new kitteh is the same age as my Kyra. They're so much fun at this age!

As for names, I had a heck of a time coming up with Kyra's. Some of my favorites that didn't quite fit her were: Bailey, Quinn, Allison (Ally), Olivia (Liv), Elizabeth (Lizzy), Libby, and Cate.

BTW, I personally think Puff is a cute name for a kitty...and "puff" might be descriptive of what happens when the other cats meet the new kitty....;-)

8. We're back from the vet, and kitty is fine.

No fleas, no ear mites, maybe some worms so they gave her some de-worming stuff; and best of all she's FELV and FIV negative. The vet identified her breed as Siamese cross; they're sure she has a lot of Siamese in her, so I'm waiting to see if she develops the YOWL. Everybody fussed over her, lots of squealing, "Ohhh, she's SOOO CUUUUTE!"

The next step will be to introduce her to The Boyz, who are now hissing at the bathroom door.
