I can't believe all the uproar about Janet's boobie being on TV for 1/10 of a second but there's not one complaint about Toby Keith taking a frayed U.S. flag, CUTTING A HOLE in the middle of it, and WEARING IT AS A SHIRT!

They hate for it to be burned but you can cut holes in it and make it a shirt?

If that had been the Dixie Chicks wearing a tattered U.S. flag with a hole cut in it, Rush and O'Reilly would be calling for Congress to issue a censure and demand a public apology from the Chicks.

Total hypocrisy. Boobs bad. Toby defiling flag good.

16. My take on it is...
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 02:44 PM by DarkPhenyx
...anyone who writes a song about laughing while the Afgan farmers running away from the falling bombs is definately not someone I have any respect for and he is definately un-American.

7. Vietnam Vets on local radio today
were just livid! There were three or four that called into our local radio talk show just ranting about Kid Rock and what he did to the flag.

9. Well, I'm glad that I'm not the only one.
I don't think the flag is sacred and untouchable but I do think that a certain amount of respect is due. And if the arch-conservatives are going to blast the flag burners then they should blast someone who turns the flag into a shirt.

8. Hubby - former Marine - was also floored by that
Not a proper way to treat the flag at all. At least when he threw it behind him someone caught it to keep it from touching the ground ... not that it meant much sense it had a huge hole in it and was on Kid Rock's body ...

Hubby is also very upset (as well as some military friends he has that are repugs) by shrub signing a flag ... how disrespectful when he's sent so many of our young men and women overseas to fight in his "war".
