Hey Lounge! What did you do today? (Dial-up warning! Picture Heavy)
I turned this...

...into this! (I love you Ikea- with every fiber of my being I love you!)

And then I spent the rest of the afternoon doing this...

I vacuumed my entire house... including the floors. And washed every dirty piece of clothing I had. Taking many breaks, on DU, in between. Later, I'm going out for a well deserved margarita or two!! :hi:

6. I vacuumed my entire house.
Edited on Sun Nov-11-07 06:30 PM by crispini
I got a new hardwood floor in my bedroom put in last week -- delightful! but the resulting sawdust All. Over. The. House. was not quite so delightful.

Thankfully, I have de-coated my house and am now hanging out on the couch with all the windows and doors open, watching the Dallas game and wondering if the polyurethane smell is going to dissipate anything this decade. I got oil-based to match the rest of the floors --but if I were to do it again, I'd definitely do water-based. That's some toxic stuff!

going out partying tonight ain't on the agenda anyway, haha.

I am, however, not too tired for an exciting trip to Target, where I plan to buy drapes! Ooo! I'm livin' the glam life!

I usually have Mondays off, anyway. But tomorrow my husband has a holiday.

Have fun at Target. Seems I have to go there every 3 days for something or the other!

Good game, btw, huh?! :hi:

11. I took my first walk to the other side of the lake...
...to where we moved just two weeks ago. This was after all the doggies were walked, so I could have both hands free to get pictures of the geese (and token duck) and the new house.

The lone duck is a year-round resident, the constant companion of a goose with a broken wing who stays the winter, too.

The lake is very low from the drought and from dredging by a builder the HOA sued for dumping silt.

The geese are a bit people-shy, and head for the water if you get too close.

Now I know what my house looks like from across the water!

It's as peaceful outside as inside.

21. I took my Mom to Windansea Beach

in La Jolla (part of San Diego) - the beach made famous in the book "The Pump House Gang." This is someone else's picture, but it looked just like this - gray and overcast and it even sprinkled a little. Still there were surfers in wetsuits. Also, for some reason, there were four ships with Canadian flags on them just a mile or so from the land. We couldn't figure why they were there or what they were doing. Then we ate at a Taco Bell right in the middle of high-rent La Jolla, California - I know, how tacky!

27. I like the seal area too, but it is always crowded.
The smaller areas, such as Windansea, Marine St. beach are less crowded and feel more like "authentic" San Diego. They recently tried to move the seals off the Children's Pool, but they came right back.

We have temporary custody of it while a friend moves and gets settled in. She refers to it as a "gazing ball."

I thought gazing balls were small though?

33. Great pics!
:hi: My husband and I took our dogs to the nearby lake, where they promptly chased a flock of geese into the lake. :P They were very happy with themselves, but the geese were pretty pissed off. They enjoyed the hell out of their outing, though. :)

Then my husband and I went to my office and loaded the car up with my personal stuff. My last day there is Wednesday, and I needed to get my fridge, plants, pics, and other items before I leave. I'm glad that part is done. :)

34. I also cooked my first meal in the new kitchen.
We've made meals in the two weeks we've lived here, but this counts as my first cooking: a Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee pizza kit, with a crust loaded with extra garlic, Italian seasoning and parmesan, and five different cheeses. It's my favorite meal, and this one turned out freakin' perfect.

41. Oh boy...
I'm innately familiar with the "terrible" phenomenon. Jack hit it late, but it's lasted a loooong time! Jack wants to do everything himself and I try to let him, but he gets a lot of really, really bad ideas. How's the little miss? I can't remember how old she is, now.

42. So, this fierce independence streak is not unique to Sergio...
...that's comforting. I was beginning to wonder because most of the other kids with Down that I've met here are very, very willing to let others do things for them.

43. Not unusual at. all.
It's a good thing in the sense that they are motivated to gain independence, but it can be very taxing on us, as parents! Jack throws a hissy if I don't let him unzip and remove his jacket, take off his own socks and shoes, and go get his own blanket, after school. I am not *allowed* to help him.
