Poll question: Have You Ever Forgotten Your Own Birthday?
I'm going to answer "yes". Even though someone reminded me it was my birthday, I didn't remember it on my own. But not for their well-wishes, I would have forgotten completely.

3. Well, for a few hours at least....
Short story - A few years ago, I awoke from my sleep, took a shower, and perpared to go to work. Read the paper, ate breakfast, and finally left. Looking in my wallet, I decided the paltry sum residing within would not assist me throughout the day, so I decided to stop at the local grocery store, with whom I had check cashing priveleges, and increase my level of cash. It was only then, while making out the check, after appx. 3 hours of consciousness, that I realized it was my birthday.

It was at that moment I realized I was no longer a kid - I was a grownup...

Don't remember thinking about it for the rest of that day, either.

4. I never had...but think I'm going to start wanting to.
This queen is getting up in years...I'll be 48 April 10th. 50 is looming ever closer. I'm not sure I'll want to remember that birthday.

10. Well, just follow my example
50 was enough of an insult, so i decided that I wasn't going to get any older than that. Since I wasn't ready to off myself, i decided that I was gonna get a year younger each year. I'm now 48-- like you!!-- and it's grand!!!

11. Yep...OR, I could borrow from Jack Benny....
And regress to 39 and stay there. :-)

13. My Mother Used To Do That...
She lied about her age and even refused to put CURRENT photos of her children on her desk because it would reveal her true age.

It's very difficult for her to lie about her age when her oldest son actully LOOKS to almost be the age she was pretending to be.

15. That would be a bit difficult to carry off.
That is, when your mom is confronted with a son who looks older than she does.

My mom is upfront about her age, because HER mother never used to tell her age. Mom thought that was silly.

21. Problem with staying 39 is . . .
. . . eventually someone's gonna say "Y'know, you don't look so good for 39."

30. Yes, I advance my age 2 or 3 years.
Then, I get to correct myself if someone says "you don't look that old". Unless, they say "well ya look pretty good for 45. Ya gonna start using sunscreen?" I'm 43.

5. Just To Clarify...
Choosing to "not celebrate" your birthday is not the same thing as totally FORGETTING about your birthday.

I actually don't remember a damn thing about the first 4 or 5.

I do remember my 8th (or 9th?) when I got the red bike.

...I wondered why the date of my birthday didn't come marked in red in calendars, like Sundays, Christmas, Independence Day (Sept 7 here) etc.

22. sure . . . matter of fact, every year since . . .
I turned 39 . . . so, like the venerable Mr. Benny, my standard answer these days to "how old are you?" is "39!" . . . :)

27. I forgot my 13th
I had to go downstairs to remember. I at first said to my mom after she wished me a happy birthday, "Are you insane? It's not my birthday!"

28. Yes - several times
I mean, know what date it is, but am not always aware when it actually arrives, until someone reminds me. It's sort of embarrassing - to not keep track of the date very well, and get caught at it.

I didn't get a "Happy Birthday" from no one, not my parents...friends...anyone. I damn near forgot it was my birthday until my twin bro reminded me later that night. :nopity:
