Serious question here: Just who buys those Justin Timberlake CD's?
For the life of me I don't know. Why is this guy famous? How could anyone actually pay money for a CD of his? Even if you're a 13 year old girl, come on, I just don't buy it.

And if it is only 12 year old girls who like him for about a month out of their lives before they're embarrassed and move on, WHY in the HELL do they subject the entire planet to this dweeb?

4. a couple of years ago, six year old girls were buying her
they bought her like crazy. Now they're eight and they hate her, so I don't know who likes her now except dirty old men.

2. Never underestimate the power of the teenage $
Somebody somewhere still likes the music, but take heart. With each successive album sales keep going down.. As I recall for Britney her latest sold less than half of her most popular.

Before long, they'll be a VH1 special. ;)

6. Greetings from the Justin Timberlake Fan Club!
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 03:59 AM by LiberalVoice
I am a 20 yr old heterosexual guy and I bought his CD! I also have every Nsync CD...American Release or otherwise.

:)

The weird thing is...I hate all other boy bands and very rarely listen to other pop groups.

Disclaimer: I'm not a member of the Fan Club!

8. From an Old Fart...
NONE of these people is some grand vessel of talent!

From my point of view:

Rap is 3rd grade poetry set to a drum

"Pop Diva's" are eye candy

NOBODY has any sense of fashion and are beyond hope

NONE of these people can PLAY an instrument

"Music" has become nothing more than hate speech

IF forced to, none of these people could carry a tune that was not 'canned' and lip-synced

Flame me if you want, but I see no talent in any of these people.

Beyonce did a good job on the SSB yesterday, but Whitney beat her a dozen years ago....in any case, it was lip-synced in both cases.

Where are the musicians? This stuff is electronically generated by a bunch of goggle eyed nerds hiding in the dark recesses of hell.

Give me an individual or group that can play their instruments, and not yell at me. If people acted like that on the street, they'd be shot.

just my 2 cents.

9. I did!
Never liked N'Sync, never liked Justin. . .saw a special on MTV on the making of "Justified" and it sounded intriguing. So I got it.

He took chances on this CD, did not play it safe. Some really terrific R and B. I have also noticed that on TV performances he and the band try hard "not' to make it sound like the CD. New arrangements. . .that seems risky to me and I admire it.

10. Actually, it's quite good

I mean, if you ignore the fact that it's Justin Timberlake and simply look at the music on Justified, that album has FANTASTIC production, great hooks, and really danceable beats.

From a technical standpoint, it really has some fantastic songs on it - even the discriminating kids at Pitchfork Media put "Cry Me a River" into their Top 10 Singles of last year.

I think it's just cool to attack teen pop now because it's not as big as it once was, even though it's having a bit of a late Renaissance, with the introduction of new Eastern-influenced (Timbaland, Bloodshy) and IDM-influenced (Swizz Beats, The Neptunes) production.

The fact is, you'll never write a song half as good as 'Senorita.'

11. Was waiting to not be the first one, but yeah
it's a pretty decent CD. I mean, I don't listen to dance music looking for lyrics or social content, and the kinds of music that dominate dance and hip hop charts would prove that neither does anyone else. My overall impression of Justified (I don't like it nearly as much as my 41 year old bride) is that it's a pretty good remake of "Off the Wall," without the single jeweled glove.
