5. More dignified. And, the chef's wife is H-O-T!
And British too.

4. I'll tell you why!
Because it's the triumph of competence over incompetence!

Reality-based-thinking over fantasy!

Work over sloth!

Ramsay says everything you wish you could say to your co-workers, your boss, and anybody who has their head up their ass and is dragging you down with them.

That being said, the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares is better than the FoX. Having seen the first ep of the 5th season (online download via nefarious means(torrent)) that evaluation is still true. Plus, all the f-words just blend into the natural conversation. Kind of like being in the army.

Poor Gareth Blackstock only ever got 2 Michelin Stars...

7. Kitchen Nightmares is pretty different. It's not a competition.
I've been watching it on BBC.

Chef actually visits failing restaurants to find (and maybe solve) the problems that are destroying the places. Bad menus, food cost insanity, lack of vision, utter inexperience, nepotism--all endemic to the industry.

As a (former) longtime industry worker, it's really kind of fun to watch. I see so many of my former bosses and chefs (and their mistakes) in the restaurants they film.
