Living in a new city kinda sucks
I just finished a long paper on the Russo-Japanese War for one of my classes, and if I were back in Toronto I would be able to call up four different people now in the middle of the night and ask them if they wanted to hang out and go grab some coffee and donuts. Now I'm in Boston and I know absolutely nobody. It sucks. Here things are going pretty well to start the weekend and I'm stuck sitting in my apartment. This is the only thing that sucks about not living in dorms anymore, I guess. Boooooo...

1. Where are you in Boston?

There are several DU'ers there. You need to meet them!

2. I'm in Boston, but I'm too old for the middle-of-the-night calls any more.

:-) (Well, I'm not THAT old, just old enough to be too tired to do that shit anymore.)

Yes, there are a number of DUers in the area, many younger than me. There's a lot to do in Boston and plenty of students out doing things. Maybe you'll meet some people in your classes that you have something in common with.

3. Just for the record, I'm not the OP
You replied in the wrong place (it's usually ME who does that!), so I hope the OP sees this.

I used to live in Boston...went to grad school in Newton.

4. I know. I was first only adding to your comment of DUers in Boston.
Then as I was writing, I added the rest. It's late and I was too tired to start over, so I hit send anyway. I think as a thread grows, people don't necessarily even notice if a reply is to someone specific or to the OP. Before I continue babbling, I'd better go to bed.

5. Find yourself an allnight coffee shop, go alone with a book
and look friendly, but not too needy.... Strike up a conversation.. You will probably find some kindred spirits :)..

become a "regular".. I'm betting that you'll have some new night-owl friends soon:)

if you lived here, I'd meet you at Denny's for coffee anytime before 4 am :)
