because I couldn't stand to hear him. I suspect people won't take too kindly to having the Super Bowl being politicized like this. Bush won't hold a press conference, but he'll talk about nothing with Jim Nantz on the Super Bowl pre-game show. Pretty transparent to me.

5. the history channel
had a piece on last night showing how presidents from Nixon on have used the superbowl for a PR advantage. Reagan's "do it for the gipper" stuff and more. The interesting thing was that the most honest republican Prez in the bunch, Ford, was the only one that actually played the game and yet did not go ape over the superbowl. One year he actually worked on writing his SOTU speech instead of watching. I bet that PR tie in was what Bush was attempting with that sports nonsense in his SOTU - this must have been his follow up attempt with that speech falling flat.
