My notion of the Perfect Bacon Sandwich.
The perfect bacon sandwich: crisp bacon splashed with a bit of Worcestershire sauce and a dash of ketchup, piled

(and I do mean PILED, you really can't have too much bacon) on lightly toasted white bread, lightly buttered. Yeah, it's a cardiologist's nightmare (and this week, nailed as another cause of cancer) but hey! I didn't say you should LIVE on it. It's an indulgence.

5. It's heinous.
Tastes and feels like sweetened snot. It's slimy fake mayonnaise with a whole bunch of sugar and it's nasty.

:puke:

But hey, eat up if you like it. If you serve it to me, however, I shall run from the room, gagging and retching.

6. Taste is subjective.
:hi:

I find the flavor of real to be gross... I'm not much bothered about texture. I think I've eaten snot-textured food before with no retching or any other ill effects... oysters, maybe? Then again, I'm an adventurous eater. :)

8. You still gonna put the Worcestershire in, though?
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 06:10 PM by mcscajun
That sounds purely adventurous: Worcestershire and Miracle Whip.

17. Nothing wrong with MW
Much better that mayo, it has flavor. If you're going to use mayo, you might as well just smear lard on your BLT, it's just another flavorless source of fat.

9. My fav bacon sandwich:
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 06:15 PM by Saint Etienne17
Fry a package of bacon, and make a couple of strips extra crispy, chop them up and set those aside.

Get some of your favorite mayo or ranch or whatever creamy/white dressing you have and mix the chopped bacon inside.

Caramelize some onions (or cook them however you like).

Get a couple of slices of whatever good melting, mild cheese.

For summer use a couple of ripe tomato slices.

Butter up and salt a couple of thin slices of whatever bread you like.

If you want the sandwich to be really filling or have some leftover meat, slice it thinly (if it's a burger or patty, leave it whole) and salt and pepper the slice to taste.

Chop some iceberg, romaine hearts or cabbage for some crunch.

Get out the mustard.

Get some pepper flakes out if you like a punch.

Assemble the sandwich by frying the buttered bread slices, then adding the mustard to the fried part bottom slice, and the mayo or whatever to the fried part of the top slice, add as much of the bacon and other meat as you want, with the cheese, and the onions. Fry the sandwich 'til the unfried parts of the bread are now brown and the cheese is melted. Open it back up and add the lettuce/tomato. Put it back together and serve immediately. :9

The only way to improve this is to omit the tomato and cabbage, batter the entire sandwich and deep -fry it :P

13. Too much distraction from the bacon. But I did get a great idea out of it.

This combo will make a great base for a few Other sandwiches I have now have in mind. Just as you can't go wrong with bacon, you can never go wrong with carmelized onions.
