1. Grilled meat.
Not traditional barbecue, mind you -- I know other people who can do the long-term cooking much better than me -- but if you're just gonna throw a couple steaks on the grill, you might as well hand me the tongs. :)

It's surprisingly simple, and sinfully rich when done right.

68. Here is Tyler Florence's very simple recipe for lemon curd
It's easy, but somewhat time-consuming, you can double the recipe without any problems.

6 large egg yolks
1 cup sugar
4 lemons, zested and juiced
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut in chunks

To make the lemon curd: Bring a pot of water to a simmer over medium-low heat. Combine the egg yolks, sugar, lemon juice, and zest in a metal or glass heat-resistant bowl and whisk until smooth. Set the bowl over the simmering water, without letting the bottom touch, and continue to whisk. Keep working-out that arm and whisk it vigorously for a good 10 minutes, until the curd has doubled in volume and is very thick and yellow. Don't let it boil. Remove the bowl from heat and whisk in the butter, a couple of chunks at a time, until melted. Refrigerate until the custard is cold and firm.

59. I do cheesecake very well also
It's a dense, rich, ricotta based cheesecake that is best after the flavors blend for a few days (a week is better). I got the recipe from my mother and haven't changed a thing from the day she read it to me over the phone.

25. Yes, sure!
:hi: My husband's family made potato soup a lot when he was growing up, and he loves it. He says I actually make it better than anyone he's known, and he has a lot of good cooks in his family. :)

6-8 Russett potatoes, peeled and cubed; cook until tender and then drain the water.
Add a small diced onion (or half a large one), 1/2 cup butter or margarine, and enough milk to cover the potatoes. Add salt to taste (I put in 1/2 tbsp sea salt) and garlic powder to taste. Cook over medium heat until the onion is tender. Take a potato masher and mash some of the potatoes to give the soup more thickness. Add a parsley garnish and bacon bits and shredded cheddar cheese to taste.

Southern fried chicken.

Even had an Italian tell me it was

in 'the old country'.

103. pie crust
Good cooks beg me to teach them how I do it. The downside is that people don't make pie for me.

And I won a cheesecake contest. I've made many a fancy dessert, such as a real authentic dobos torte, a concorde, a White House Fancy cake, a Mont Blanc, croquembouche, a chocolate bag filled with apricot mousse, etc., etc.

Unfortunately, the five people in this house barely eat one dessert per week, so there's no use in making them. And that's even with two teenagers in the house. I have hundreds of vintage cookbooks and no one to really feed. Sob.

106. One-of-a-kind throw-together dinner
When I can't think of what else to cook, I take whatever I find that's edible in the fridge, add what I find in the pantry, throw it together and never can cook it again because I'll never again have that particular combination of food. My best meals.
