Super Bowl boycotters check in here!
I don't think I've tried to watch the whole game since the Bears were in it in the eighties anyways. But let's have some message board solidarity!

Moveon.org has a campaign to turn from the super bowl
at 8:10 and 8:35, the times that their ads are being run on CNN. I think that is a bit more realistic than asking people not to watch at all.

2. Our house will boycott CBS . . .
Though we usually like Dan Rather, we were incensed at his Friday night spin on why CBS couldn't carry the MoveOn commercial. Their excuses ring hollow in light of past practices. It seems pretty obvious that CBS has become indebted to the Bush administration because of the new FCC ruling and they are giving a little payback.

I'm amazed at all the attention given the Super Bowl commercials - I don't get it, just like I don't get wearing logos as fashion statements. (Ok, I don't get fashion, either.) We might as well get sponsored and tattooed at birth.

MoveOn cemented it. Bring on the baseball season!

14. I'm in
I'm not especially boycotting the Super Bowl because of the Moveon thing, although I would if I were a football fan.

No, I'm continuing my longstanding boycott of one of the opiates for the masses. I never could understand identifying with a sports team just because they're in your same general geographic area (usually). Vicarious living, and vicarious domination over others for no apparent reason. Mind you, I have nothing at all against a physical sports contest. I like to see a well-caught pass, that sort of thing. It's the glomming-on by the fans and the marketing by the marketeers that I don't particularly like.

16. Sorry, my kids and I will be watching
Probably watch the commercials too. But we will be switching to CNN to watch the Moveon.org spots. I showed my 14 year old TBTM.com and he watched every single one of Symbolman's flash movies, and sent the links to his friends.

22. F*** the Stupor Bowl
Football makes me want to regurgitate. I hate everything about it.

I'm taking the kids swimming instead.

I hope CBS is disappointed with their ratings. I learn more on the Internet than I'll ever learn watching that network, anyway. I used to have an ounce of respect for CBS due to "60 Minutes." No more. Between the "Reagan" cave-in and the MoveOn censorship they've lost me forever.

Football (and basketball) at that level are played by genetic mutants, and they have no interest for me. (Now baseball, on the other hand....)

I think I'm gonna spend the time figuring out a good way to make some ABB pins for me and my friends and family!

but today, fuck it. I'm not gonna watch CBS. I've been boycotting them since they took off the Reagan movie and that they cater to the Republican assholes. So....no. No SB for me.

Thank God.

However, I hope the Panthers kick the Patriot's ass. That Tom Brady makes me sick.

Besides, what's the point of watching it? The Vikings didn't make it.

I need to do some errands, too.

My husband will be parked in front of the TV though, just like he does every year. :)

I have convinced him to at least change the channel to CNN to watch the Moveon ads. He doesn't like the decision made by CBS but that won't take him away from his football. sigh.

37. Pro football sucks, the Superbowl BLOWS
Superbowls are rarely any good-- I can count on one hand the number that have truly been good football games.

Give me Rugby Union any day of the week! Now THAT's a real sport, without any of that sissy body armor to "protect" you from getting whomped!

I'm personally waiting for "All Star Survivor" (aka "ASS"). THAT will be a much better competition.

Said it was so boring, he was going to take a nap. He said the crowd is unusually quiet and uninterested. What a revolting display he said it was. Bush gave some little comment before CBS came in. Then there was this segment about the space shuttle Columbia crash. He said it really bummed him and his guest out. I really hope thier ratings go into the crapper.
