Any other het male DUers not watching/giving a damn about the Superbowl?
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 03:07 PM by CanuckAmok
Or am I the only one?

on edit: here's an indicator of my level of interest: I don't even know who's playing.

Haven't watched TV in about three months, except for the Simpsons and CBC's "The Newsroom".

2. Yep, not watching. I'm taking the kids to the park.
IMO, the Super Bowl is a microcosm of everything that's wrong with America.

Think about it...

Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 03:11 PM by lcordero
For the reason that if less people watch, less advertising dollars will be given to them.

10. My Consuming Interest In The Superbowl
... does not exist.

I've never paid attention to football. Hockey and Baseball can get my attention for about an hour per season. Football, zero.

I just have no respect for the sport. It's the real-life version of Rollerball -- only more sinister.

11. Better Things to Do
I have better things to do that watch the idle rich play an over-hyped game on network television.

My suggestion to everyone is go to www.earthside.com and read the articles on ABRUPT CLIMATE CHANGE. This is serious stuff ... and it actually may be happening now.

If a global warming induced mini ice age gets underway, there may not be anymore 'Super Bowls' to be talking about.

16. MIGHT be happening now?
Woods Hole announced this year that the North Atlantic branch(es) of the thermohaline circulation "conveyer belt" are breaking down. It started this past summer.

Be sure to buy lots of thermal undies when they go on sale this April. You may need them around October :)

So f**k football.

13. I watch no professional sports
I am a very active and athletic person, and I'd rather spend two hours playing football with my son than watching other people play while my son plays his Nintendo.

Of course, this Sunday I'm stuck here at work and can't watch or play :(

14. Pro Sports is annoying because:
- Outlet for corporate welfare. (how many of you have fancy new stadiums in your city funded by public money that you have to pay to get in to?)

- Distraction for public. (why are we told anybody can be a good armchair coach, but we have to trust "experts" when it comes to politics)

- Any more reasons? I know they are out there!

Yeah, CanuckAmok, you're not alone. The only downside I find in my lack of interest/knowledge on football is that it leaves me out of 30% of male-male conversations. :(

I hate CBS. I've been boycotting them since they pulled that Reagan movie off CBS.

Besides...I have a take home test I have to work on...and it's due tomorrow morning.

I'm gonna catch CNN at halftime, though, since they're going to play that MoveOn.org commercial!

30. I'm a het male who likes sports, and I'm not an anti-sports
snob. But I will not be watching the Super Bowl.

I do like football (although college more than pro), but there's just so much hype (including hours of pregame TV fluff, an overdone half-time show, expensive commercials, Super Bowl parties) surrounding one game that I can't stand to watch it.

I began selectively watching (or not watching) the Super Bowl in 1991, the year they started propagandizing it with all the pro-military stuff (it was during Gulf War I), but if a particular matchup or team interests me in any given year, I might watch.

I won't this year because I'm sure they'll be propagandizing again, what with Gulf War II going on, and I'm boycotting CBS for its political bias.

I'm going to go see a movie.
