Holiday plans!
Just a week ago I had no plans for the holidays. Then, LizzieGrace, sweet wonderful person that she is, invited me out to Ohio. So I'm going out there for New Years. :loveya:

And then friends in Buffalo found out that I have no plans, and they have insisted (INSISTED) that I have to come out there for Thanksgiving.

So now I have plans. I'm going to travel. OMG, I'm going to get on airplanes. :scared:

It's not that I'm afraid of heights. I actually love to fly. But the changes in air pressure, plus those damned seats, put me in huge amounts of pain. I'm going to be medicated to the gills on painkillers and muscle relaxants. I'll be in a wheelchair when I come off the planes. But, damn it, I'm going to travel.
:patriot:

Yay! Can I tell you how excited I am? Can I tell you how nervous I am?

1. remember...TSA screeners are known for their sense of humor, so make lots of bomb jokes
that always kills in the X-ray line.

have fun.

3. One advantage I have over you poor schmucks
is that people in wheelchairs get wheeled to the front of the lines and then then thoroughly groped by some friendly young guy in uniform! :P

4. I haven't traveled in a couple of years.
Not since before the rheumatoid artritis kicked in. Flying was incredibly painful before. I'm really not looking forward to finding out how it feels now.

But I'm going to be a stuborn bastard! And I'm going to be on heavy drugs! So I can do this! Yes I can! :P

I'll already be carrying two big metal poles (crutches) and I'll be wearing metal plates (in my braces) so I'm sure security is going to LOVE me.

11. I doubt I could ever handle a flight that long.
Hell, how do you stay consistently medicated long enough for a flight that long? Wow.

But I would absolutely love to fly to Hawaii some day. I've never been there.

14. It does.
I hope any problems I have from the flights are very short lived. If I spend all of thanksgiving weekend recovering from the flight then I'll have to change my travel plans for New Year's.

I hope everything goes well with your dad and sister. :)

12. Yay!!
And if you request it, maybe they'll me meet you at the gate since you'll be all doped up. Check with your travel agent and let me know what you find out.

I get the impression that the smaller commuter jets fly at a lower altitude. If that's the case, maybe the pressure issues won't be as bad.

I cannot wait!!!

41. I expect to work either Christmas or Thanksgiving.
As a nurse, it's just a part of the job and I feel a little mean for calling her a douche, but it would be nice to know so I can give an answer to extended family. Other floors in my hospital know their schedules 6-8 weeks ahead of time. Us? :(
