8. Well, it's like this...
She has just two photos of her parents in their youth: a wedding photo and one from some time during their courtship. Both photos are black-and-white and badly damaged, with lots of scratches and creases, and the courtship photo is missing a whole corner.

I retouched them both with Photoshop and restored them, in her words, to "better than new" condition. I'm not sure about that part, but I can say that they're a lot better than they were.

Honestly, it wasn't that difficult, because the damaged parts didn't have unique detail (no creased faces, for instance) and because almost any knucklehead can use Photoshop. But the means to retouch them were entirely beyond her, since she's not at all tech-savvy, so as far as she knew the pictures were lost forever.

Also, I enlarged the photos to 8x10, as opposed to the sort of odd sizes that they were before (custom cropped, I suspect).

When I presented them to her she wept aloud, right there in the Retail Accounts department where she works.

Pretty cool IMO. That sort of photo-manipulation is basically just a hobby, but it had such a profound and visible impact upon her.

It's refreshing to use my powers for good instead of evil, for once.

14. Onto your posterior? Well,
then, you might have issues :o

But if you insist on continually doing good, I don't think you'll have that problem.

I point this out periodically when I have no idea what to say to a particular post.....

Uh, did you tell her you were going to make her watch "Manos, Hands of Fate?"

21. OT: Ellen, have you abandoned your blog? I went to the link and it took me to January 2006.

Anyway, how do you like Live Journal.com? At least one of our movie reviewers uses it here in Portland. I think she has two accounts -- personal and professional.

Respectfully,

Respectfully,

Radio Lady (sixty-something but really almost in the over 70 crowd)

PS. I kissed the hand of my cute little ol' male endodontist this morning. (A darling young couple waiting in his lobby laughed when I did that!) I'm back in treatment after a September 7th root canal therapy visit that didn't work out right. He re-treated a molar tooth and I just hope and pray all of his training and caring pays off. You never know who or what will move you to gratitude -- or to tears -- or to handkissing.

Oh, one thing I once did in gratitude for something another man did that was VERY special. I sent a bouquet of Birds of Paradise flowers to him in the office where he worked. I was about 30 years old at the time. He told me later the whole office crew talked about it for weeks... although I think he kept my identity a complete secret.
