If you're watching Channel 11, I think it's neat how they brought all the former pro athletes from the Houston teams on the stage. I was really shocked though when they showed Earl Campbell walking in (he needed help), I felt so bad for him...he was one awesome football player.

1. Watching it here
Despite the Bush into...so far not too jingoistic.

I couldn't believe it when I realized that was Earl Campbell. Being a transplated easterner I enjoyed seeing Roger and Andy.

I couldn't believe how packed the streets were earlier on the news. Even for a northeasterner I thought it was a bit chilly tonight.

George and Barbara Bush have nothing to do with sports. And as far as the weather I didn't think it was too cold out but cold enough for a jacket.

3. This Houstonian was NOT at home...
I just got back from downtown. It's insane down there but Houston's downtown is recovering from being DEAD at night for many years, so that's OK. And the buses were running really late, so I took the one that made me walk many blocks to my house rather than the more convenient one. I can use the exercise. It's cool tonight, but not cold.

Lots of free music downtown--heard Charlie Robison & band (his brother is married to a Dixie Chick--his father was my geography teacher in Junior High--small state). The Neville Brothers played at another stage--I stayed long enough to hear Iko Iko. Giant crowds, diverse folks, but no ugliness that I saw. (Supposedly Madonna, J-Lo, Snoop Dogg, et al. are here--thankfully, they were at private parties.) Treebeard's was taken over for a private party--extremely annoying security guys had even blocked off the sidewalk. Very inconvenient & rude--then, I noticed that party was for FOX! (It figures.)

Guys outside one of the Irish pubs were waving "MASSHOLE" t-shirts... But they were probably delirious from the heat.

4. Wow, Thanks for that review.
If my bf wasn't out of town this weekend, we probably would have strolled downtown to check things out.
