GO PANTHERS!
I know they are the underdogs, but it sure would be nice if they could pull this off. We call them the "Cardiac Cats" at our house.

5. As a new Na'th Cahlinian...
Can I just ask...

Why are they the CAROLINA Panthers? I mean, are not most teams named after just the city they're from, not the entire state?

'Course, they're playing a team named after an entire REGION, so go figure...:eyes:

ps--Thanks for the link, supe. ;)

7. The Tennessee Titans......same thing
I think it's because the Carolinas don't have big populations and I like it because the whole area feels connected. I live in Asheville, (68,000), but we are just as involved as Charlotte and other cities. The Panthers train in Spartanburg, SC, which is also where the owner, Jerry Richardson, comes from.

13. DING, DING!
We have a winner!

To get an NFL franchise in the first place, Richardson et al. had to prove that a big enough population from the surrounding area would support it. And Charlotte, while bursting at the seams, doesn't quite qualify .... yet. That's OK.

I mean, there's Carolina and Duke B'ball fans all over the freakin' planet. Se we can certainly put together a regional football team

8. Don't forget to boycott Coors during the Superbowl
...and the rest of the year too. The profits from the sale of Coors is used to fund all sorts of right wing causes. Don't help fund them.

Thomas Brady showed up for Bush's SOTU...made me puke. :puke:

12. Because he was invited, and Delhomme wasn't
If I got invited to the SOTU, I'd go. I'd be snarling the whole time, but I'd go.

They put Brady in the crowd as the poster boy for athletes who don't use steroids.

14. Yep, I like OSX 10.3, too!
Oh, wait. Never mind...

(Personally, I was hoping for a 'retro' Superbowl featuring the Packers/Chiefs or Packers/Colts. Sigh.)

15. Anyone know what the bets are amongst the politicians? NC-MA/NH?
I don't, but know that there's a rich history of politicians having to embarass themselves when their team loses... Wondered if anyone knew what the deal was for this superbowl...

I know that the Kerry and Edwards folks were quoted earlier this week as saying that they weren't going to do anything publicity-wise (or stunt-ish) around this... Anyone know about the other Congressional folks from the area?

My throat is still sore from shouting at Jake's last touchdown. My Panthers put up a good fight right up to the end........has to be one of the greatest Super Bowl's ever, (not the half-time though).
