We did SNL. What's your favorite SCTV skit?
Edited on Sat Jan-31-04 10:10 PM by camero
For those of you who don't know SCTV was a Canadian SNL in the 70's and 80's.

Mine were the 3D House of Beef with John Candy
All the Great White North skits
John Candy playing a Redneck and blowing up Helen Reddy

14. If I recall, CCCP TV lasted the entire show...
It kept jamming in and out, complete with the snowy fade in and out, vodka commercials, etc...

I seem to recall that "decadent Uzbeks" was a recurring theme...

"Look, lone star state. Lone star state is puny rock compared to vast universe of Soviet Union..."

13. Parody of The Godfather
Edited on Sat Jan-31-04 11:34 PM by chookie
It opens with Levy as Floyd the Barber, telling Don Cabellero that Opie has been hanging out with some THUGS; I want you to break Opie's arms the way he broke my barber pole.

Yosh and Stan Schmenge do the melodies of famous Lutonian composer John Villiams! Mrs Vilva Yashke, for her cabbage rolls and coffee -- how does she do it, week after week?

Celebrity Pet Peeves. Pavoratti "Beatle boots. You can't get them anymore. Most comfortable thing I ever had on my feet."

3D House of Pancakes.

And "Chariots of Eggs" -- parody of Chariots of Fire, with Hall and Oates.

Dave Thomas as Bob Hope (very scary) and as Liberace in the SCTV Christmas special.

I miss SCTV so badly. Too bad the producer (Jack Rhodes, one of Pittsburgh's most cherished assholes) is a total asshole, and is sitting on all this stuff and refuses to re-release it.

A few years ago. Before that dullard Carson Daley was host on late night NBC. They were playing SCTV in half hour increments. It was SO COOL to see that stuff again.
