gets a bit teary at times...i agree. My daughters couldn't understand what i was emotional about, but the underlying misery of the depression scenario hits home.

GO DK...i mean, SEABISCUIT!!

8. I was going to mention My Dog Skip, too
It was completely unexpected, but I sobbed for a half hour over the ending. I was SO embarassed.

15. What on earth was there to cry about in Seabiscuit?
It wasn't a tearjerker. Boy meets horse, boy races horse, boy breaks leg, horse wins without him - and, and, and -
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

28. You're obviously not from thoroughbred country
The Biscuit may have been one of those uppity California horses, but we Kentuckians can get misty over any good horse story.

19. Wow, I hated Seabiscuit!
Watched the whole thing only because I was on a plane. What a pompous, slow-moving piece of cheese!

No offense intended to you, Matcom...I have cried over many a crappy movie myself. I cried over a Garfield TV special once.

C ya,

23. You should read the book!
I cried like an idiot and decided I want a horse. That Seabiscuit was incredibly cool. I like how he used to taunt the other horses when he was racing. And people say animals are dumb!

25. Yeah, it's great book
And old Biscuit was a great horse. I liked the way he used to sleep all the time, lying down - which is highly unual for horses, due to their anatomy.

Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 11:24 AM by alwynsw
Laughed my ass off at that line. Loved the book. Loved the movie. Aside from a couple of inconsequential changes for flow and cosmetics, Hollywood actually told the story as it happened. That amazed me.

on edit: read the book when it first came out. Hope I remembered the quote correctly.

30. I LOVE this movie
The book's even better. I couldn't put the book down till I finished it. I had no interest whatsoever in horse racing before I read the book; now I'd like to go to see some racing.

Matcom, guys who choke up at touching movies are a real chick magnet, y'know!

:toast:

Julie
bought the "Seabiscuit" DVD at Costco yesterday...
