Margery Sophia Kennedy was my 14th great grandmother and John Kennedy's 9th great grandmother.

Solid. Of course, I think if you go back that far, everyone is probably related to Kennedy. haha

2. I was looking at the Kennedy line for kicks and noticed names started matching up.
My family has a pretty extensive list of our line, so I cross-checked it and sure enough, they link up under Margery Sophia Kennedy. Her father was Alexander Kennedy and mother Mariot Dunbar, who link up to John Kennedy's Kennedy line. I've been able to trace that Kennedy line pretty far back and since Kennedy is such a famous figure and so many people have researched his family, it's been a ton easier building the line past Alexander's father, Thomas Kennedy.

4. I thought there was a DU Genealogy group
but I can't find it.

I know that Fudge Stripe Cookie is big into genealogy, though. You should look her up!

I think it's very interesting, but I've never gotten into doing the search thing myself. My cousin did a whole history thing but instead of just giving it to family, she wanted to sell it. :puke: I mean, if she wanted to recoup the cost of the research or something then say, I spent so and so getting this all together - then I probably would have given her something but to just up and say - Hey - here's your family history - that'll be $29.95 (or whatever it was) kinda ticked me off!

My husband started looking into his history when I was pregnant with our son. He did his surname back to the earliest settlers in the "new world". He also found out he had two older half-brothers he never knew about and that his dad was still married to THEIR mother and had never really married his mom. He stopped looking after that. :P

3. I've wondered how you can find your info that far back
I know that for famous people, it's done for them. I've hit road blocks. Are there people you can hire to do this?
