1. Me too.
Or, more correctly, I just don't want to do anything. I've got a huge list of things that need to be done, but I DON'T WANNA! ;)

I'm on US23 S in the passenger seat while Joani is driving us to lizziegrace's Ohio meetup. I'm supposed to me Mapquesting but I'm slacking off on DU instead. ;)

34. I tried to get a job when I was your age. Got one too... sort of.
Unfortunately they had a manditory drug test that you HAD to take within 24 hours of your interview... and they didn't bother to mention that the drug testing place they used was only open for 4 hours a day. So I got there 15 minutes after they closed, and I couldn't take it. Therefore I couldn't get the job.

Ironically, when I applied there again the next summer, I got the job, everything was going well... they were using a new drug testing place that was not only right down the street instead of all the way across town, but was open from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. And I finished my interview around 7. So I went there right away. Figured I'd get it out of the way ASAP.

Only one problem... the drug testing place didn't send the results to the right place. And the only person at the store where I'd applied who was even ALLOWED to request the results again... was on vacation. For that entire month. (*&%ing beauracracy. So I had to wait a month and a half to start working after I'd already been hired. What was supposed to be a summer job to earn money for college turned out to be just barely enough to pay the deposit and first month's rent on my apartment.

35. that sucks
:(

guess one good thing about small towns is that every body knows every body so when you are looking for a job it's fairly easy to find one if you know people who can offer them.

38. Yeah, the area I lived in was just one big urban sprawl.
Nobody knew nobody except their next-door-neighbors. And there were practically no small businesses around, just chains. And nary a single job within walking distance, which sucked because I didn't have a car. And I couldn't get my liscense until I could afford to pay the extra bit on my parents' car insurance that would have come from having an extra driver in the house. Of course, I couldn't pay that until I got a job. And I couldn't get a job without a liscense. It was all very cyclical and futile. I think that's when I figured out how the world works. :P

40. Small towns and big cities have their own benefits... unfortunately the place I'm at right now
isn't either one of those. Like I said, it's just one big urban sprawl. Not a city, not a town... just a big lump of people spread across the area.

46. I know there's at least one small-town thing that I miss...
wild blackberries. Even if you can find 'em by the side of the road here(rare, but I've seen them), they get picked by pedestrians and homeless people the minute they ripen. Back when I lived in a small town as a kid, we had an actual FOREST behind our house, complete with blackberry bushes. Every year we'd pick a crapload of them and make pies and stuff. No paying out the nose for 'organic' berries, no berries covered in pesticides... just natural, wild-grown ones.

And since it looks like I'll be moving back to that hometown really soon, I might be able to get ahold of them again soon. :)

Huh. I just realized that. :)

And I recall seeing a fig tree before when I was younger, a small one in a pot. Only a few feet high at the time. I never saw it when it was bearing fruit though.
