So...you don't believe missiles attached to the undersides of painted military aircraft were fired seconds before Tower-impact I and II so as to ignite and detonate the thermite charges planted all throughout WTC 1 and 2 and 5 and especially 7 by FEMA while another "plane" that was really a missile hit the Pentagon after the people who made up the pilots/crew/passengers/witnesses were 'disappeared,' and all at the behest of and on orders from the Cheney/GOP/RNC/DLC/Hillary/Corpofascist/Megamedia opium tong?

You...you...must believe the original story!!! ENABLER!

Etc.

*koff*

Sorry. Been there, done that, wrote one of the first books on the topic...ugh.

So much is wrong with the "accepted" 9/11 story line (I could burn your ears off with it), but a lot of the "Truth Movement" just murdered the cause in cold blood; most of the best minds have bailed out, and much of what remains is noise (plus a few slicks who know that some folks *want* to hear the worst possible maybe's reframed as fact, and will pay good money to do so)...

P.S. A trusted friend of mine saw the Pentagon plane slide low and crash...and it was a plane....and he's not a pod person;

P.P.S. A long-time DUer named DemoTex is a 30+ year commercial pilot. He was great friends with the pilot who died in the nose of that plane;

P.P.P.S. Etc.

(I can point you towards a bunch of excellent scholarship on the matter, if you're interested. No documentaries based upon "expert testimony" on metallurgy/architecture/engineering given by Sociology professors...etc...if you wish)

P.P.P.P.S. The worst part? The most horrifying 9/11 theories are not nearly as terrifying as any number of the "mundane" follow-the-thread theories we were all trying to run down and investigate before the waters got all muddied...like:

Enron. CIA. Unocal. Pipelines...so much less sexy than the stuff we hear...but so parallel with the Bush & Co. profit motive...

No wonder these lines of inquiry never went anywhere.

No wonder a bunch of noise got thrown up to distract anyone who cares enough to look.

Accident?

Hm.

;)

3. They are a good example of how all conspiracy theory fans think
Edited on Mon Oct-15-07 07:11 AM by cobalt1999
I won't single out just the 9/11 ones, but would include the "fake moon landing" fans, the "alien abduction" fans, and all of the folks that have never heard of Occam's Razor.

It's fun to observe them though because there is a lot of common emotions, arguments, and motivations behind all conspiracy believers such as:

1) A feeling of superiority and intelligence because THEY are able to see the truth through all the lies. IMHO, this is the strongest motivator to never let go of the conspiracy as the forum feeds their egos, because the theorists for the most part aren't people that have ever been considered "smart" before.

2) The belief that the "truth" is coming out any minute, or people are beginning to come around. That argument is used to shore themselves up and to fantasize about the day they'll be proven correct and give the "I told you so" to everyone that laughed at them. This is another strong motivator. When Fox aired the Fake Moon Landing show a couple of years ago, those folks were sure they'd be vindicated by now.

3) Acceptance of Proof. Even in our own 9/11 forum, every idea has been debunked over and over by reputable sources, but those arguments and logic are like water off a ducks back. However, if Joe Blow the musician from Butt Lick, Montana posts some "evidence", it's believed at face value immediately. Which is why arguing with conspiracy nuts is a waste of time, they don't want to believe their theories have been debunked.

Again, I'm not singling out the 9/11'ers. This same pattern goes for ALL of them.

6. I forgot some believers might be here...I changed the language to FANS
Again, I wasn't singling out the 9/11'ers. Just an observation from many years of dealing with conspiracy fans.

9. Both extremes on the issue are a bit off
Personally I think there is a problem with the official story, but it seems pretty clear to me that planes flew in to those towers. On the other hand, there are people in that forum who, I believe, only hang out there to attack anyone who questions the official story.

I really think there's more to it than the official story. I don't think Al Qaeda was powerful enough to pull something off like that alone. There might be some MIHOP/LIHOP where Cheney and his minions are concerned. Though I believe Al Qaeda was plotting, and that planes did hit the towers, even if aided by explosives.

12. 9/11 denier here
Ever since the Flying Dutchman reached shore and VanDyke gave the Indians 24 beads to erect the Empire State Building, that structure has been the tallest on Manhattan. There were never any World Trade Center buildings, so no airplanes flew into them.

I'm SERIES!!!

:hi:

15. Three important items.
1. In the "The Pet Goat" video, Bush looked like he expected people to clap irons on him at any moment. He didn't look scared for the world, he looked really scared for himself.

Guilt.

2. Bush and friends have done almost zero to find out what happened. Just like OJ is out looking for the real killer.

Bush and friends can't even be bothered to provide a charade of interest in what happened, and finding who did it. Even for the sake of doing so in mockery.

3. Follow the money that's been made as a result of post-9/11 actions.

Someone posted a list of 256 egregious items from BushCo action on DU the other day; consider the trends and know them by their fruits.
