Here's to a band very few people like
Edited on Sun Oct-14-07 07:48 PM by Bluzmann57
and it's likely a lot of people who are not of a certain age have never heard of these guys. But here's to the old time Hillbilly Metal band, Black Oak Arkansas. I love these guys. I admit I am biased as this is the very first Rock band I ever saw live, but damn those guys were good. None other than David Lee Roth has stated pubicly that he patterened his act after Jim Dandy Mangrum. And for any doubters, try and find the song,"Lord Have Mercy on my Soul", where Jim Mangrum questions fundy faith. Rock on BOA!

2. Fuck, man
You know you are obligated to post a link to one of their songs when you say something like that.

7. Sorry man
I'm not sure any links to their individual songs exist. See, they had one and only one top 40 tune and that was "Jim Dandy", which was ok, but still a cover tune. BOA was all about live and partying. Google 'em sometime.

5. Slade headlined Winterland?
I know they played SF a coupla times, but I don't remember them headlining.

I could never understand why they didn't make it in the U.S. when they were huge in Europe. Guess the mid-'70s just weren't their time here because everybody was into bands like Black Oak Arkansas. :D

14. I heard of BOA on one of the Christian TV channels...
I think it was TBN, the one with purple-haired Jan Crouch. They used to have one of those 'experts' on rock music on who played songs backwards and informed us about the eeeeeviiill Satan messages on hidden in the music. Me and my friends used to get baked and watch it for laughs. I remember the guy playing a track from a live BOA album and claiming the singer said "natas, natas, natas" which is Satan backward of course. Good Times...
