Poll question: Just curious. Who here is still holding out for Al Gore?
Edited on Wed Oct-10-07 03:55 PM by ALiberalSailor
If you are, as I am, this weekend seems to be the make or break time. I'm freakin' racked with anticipation because if he doesn't get in the race, I really don't know who I will support. Sometimes it's Edwards, sometimes Obama.

1. I'm probably going to vote for Edwards if Gore fails to step up.
But I don't entirely trust him to make the right
foreign policy decisions....

4. I think he's been pretty good so far...
...I just don't want Hilary "Lieberman Light" Clinton. And I'll be the first to admit that choosing Lieberman is one thing that makes me question Gore's judgment.

5. He voted for the IWR. Hell, he CRAFTED it.
Then he DEFENDED his vote throughout the 04 campaign.

He HAS since admitted it was all a horrible mistake......

But his statements on Iran have been hair-raising, too.

He's all over the map.

Domestically, he's great though. :)

6. Yea, that's the problem with all of them. Everyone has something...
...that makes me think, "Yea, but..." We'll see. This weekend should be interesting.

3. It would certainly make things "interesting". To say the very least.

12. No horse in this race.
At this point with the campaigns shaping up the way they are, I'm leaning towards HRC.

13. I pretty much gave up on him by mid-September...
After reading two HuffPo columns about how he needed to form an Exploratory Committee by Sep 1.

Now I'm thinking, he's Al freakin' Gore, he doesn't NEED an Exploratory Committee.

So I'm once-again hopeful.

OTOH, he's missed the deadline on the Michigan primary (which is a non-issue as of this week). Dunno if he's missed deadline for NY. I guess the key ones are still Iowa, NH, Nevada, and SC. If he enters by this weekend, and sweeps those four, he'll swamp Hillary on Super Tuesday.

Either way, if he wins the Nobel Peace Prize, I'm thinking his office will make SOME kind of announcement (yea or nay) tomorrow.

:bounce:

17. Remember in the run-up to 2004 when a draft Gore movement....
...started? He was adamant and very, very clear about not running and told the individuals organizing the movement to stand down. No such thing this time. Wouldn't DraftGore.org serve the purpose of an Exploratory Committee? If so, he's had one for 8 months. I personally think he decided a while ago that he would likely run, but didn't want to politicize the Nobel Prize one way or the other.

19. Exactly. ITA.
Like I said, he don't need no stinkin' Exploratory Committee :)

One thing we do know for sure...he is thinking about it.

He may decide No, he may decide Yes, but as of now, he is considering his options.

14. I need to ponder this. Good question!
I saw something on the news this morning-- just in passing-- about a "Draft Gore" petition, and my immediate reaction was to be touched, frankly. In a good way, mind you.

Then I thought: "I like Al. I voted for him."

Then I thought, "Al vs. Hillary. That could be VERY interesting."

Then I though, "Al vs. Rude-y. Damn, that would be a thoroughbred vs. a rabid dog. Who'd win that one? You'd think the thoroughbred, but rabid dogs are dangerous because they are fearless and deranged."

Then I thought, "Holy crap, Rude-y is going to be the GOP nominee, isn't he? How can this be?"

Then I saw Ann Coulter's smirking face on TV, and instantly knew how "this could be."

Then I got insanely depressed and had to rush off to work.

20. Holy shit, that was his WIFE. Not him.
And we ended up with what...a warning label for explicit lyrics. Big freakin' deal.

So you can't decide on AL GORE because of something his WIFE did over 25 years ago.

Amazing.

21. He was involved.
These people wanted more than a warning label. They wanted ratings, and some wanted to do away with music they didn't like altogether.

Uh oh. The Lounge is turning into GD.

23. "He was involved"? That's all you got?
"He was involved"?

Sheesh.

Newsflash: "These people" were acting over 25 years ago. And gosh, what a slippery slope it's been. Look at all the progress they've made. Nowadays, we have, um...

Warning labels for explicit lyrics.

And gosh, look at ALL the censorship Tipper Gore put in place during her eight years in the White House! With a staff and a budget and everything. She sure made music censorship her #1 priority, 15 years later, didn't she?

But heck, don't let reality stand in the way of your fears of Al Gore's wife.
